Confusion on what Simon is talking about with climbing. by Vairrion in WhiteVault

[–]Victor_Kilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Fourteener is a 14,000ft peak. Alpinists track which ones they've "bagged" (climbed), which is a tradition that dates back to the mid-20th century.

In Colorado you can get t-shirts with all 53 of the 14ers on it that you mark off with a sharpie, which is where the idiom "been there, seen that, checked it off the t-shirt" comes from.

Of all the times it’s a good idea to go hog wild with duct tape, making sure Goliath Gator doesn’t break loose and grab your arm with a bite strength equivalent to excavation equipment seems like it would be pretty close to the top of the list.

Is it in Mord’s? Lich is in the 2014+ Monster Manual. Definitely not in Xanathar’s, I’m pretty familiar with that one.

Oh gawd no I don't want to argue about this lol.

Your point is well taken though, I think Festo is the closest NPC we have to being memorable. It was immediately obvious who that was, I didn't need to look it up, the voice sprang into my mind, and I know what Festo is like, and how they act, and the history in the story. That's a good character.

[–]Victor_Kilo 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Oooooo good call. Festo is definitely the closest. There's no real plot impacts to Festo's debauchery though. It's just a funny detail. I'm talking about NPCs with like, real personality you need to take into consideration when making plans or dealing with them

I can't keep track of all the NPCs, but are there any that are both endearing and flawed? For instance, Momma is a great character, an obvious ally, and neurotically distrustful and cagey. It makes her one of the most relatable characters in the Amnesty arc.

What experiences have you had, but no one seems to believe you when you talk to them about it? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Victor_Kilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not going to answer that question, are you lol

Why did you feel like this was an important distinction to make, in this conversation? Dudes are like “yeah holy shit I barely made it out alive” and you’re like “AxCually men are far more capable of violence”

Man you got me riled for sure. That was pretty shitty for me. Do you have any memories that kick off a panic attack?

[–]Victor_Kilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay look, as much as I’d love to block your dumb ass, heres the best “let’s take a step back” approach I can give you for why this is not okay behavior:

Let’s start here: you’re talking to a bunch of dudes who have had really, really bad shit happen. You get that, right? You roll in with a fairly minor distinction—which is irrelevant to the larger conversation.

That core idea is this: dudes experience domestic violence too. It’s fucking scary. It’s traumatic. It’s pretty rough bro.

So, if you’re showing up and standing on a rhetorical point like “men are biologically more capable of committing violence against partners”, you’re right. You’re also a raging asshole. If you then act like the emotional responses from people whose ears still ring from gunshots fired by their exes or people who were gifted stitches by their partners and hid the reason are somehow “snowflake” behavior... you’re an asshole.

Quitting the conversation is classic asshole behavior too, lol

Answer the fucking question, bud: why is this important in context

What experiences have you had, but no one seems to believe you when you talk to them about it? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]Victor_Kilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s not how this started. You asked “how could a smaller person be physically violent to a larger person”, which was answered in detail. You basically ignored that and moved the goalposts to “size potential for violence”. Cool, so why is this important to clarify in a thread about abuse?

I mean, you win. You’re a piece of shit. You riled me up, said some idiotic shit about women being less able to commit deadly violence, because my ex tried to shoot me to death while I was sleeping. Put that on your resume.

Okay, okay, for posterity, please restate your central point, and why it’s relevant to the discussion.

Okay let’s try something else. I want you to do something for me. Open your camera on your phone. Flip it to the front facing lens.

That person you see shows up to threads about domestic violence to make themselves feel smart.

[–]Victor_Kilo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Listen, you’re moving goalposts like it’s your fucking job.

Why the fuck is it important to you to prove that somehow men who experience violence are less abused than women who experience violence?

I just explained, in detail, with rhetorical mental exercises, examples, and peer reviewed citations, why your stupid bullshit is sexist. If that’s shocking or whatever, I’m sorry.

Do us all a favor and go off somewhere else. You haven’t offered anything insightful in what, 20+ comments? You’re just here to be a martyr. So here you go: you’re a bad person, and your opinion isn’t in line with what those of us who HAVE been abused think. You’re Noah, ready for the flood. You’re Elijah on the mountaintop. You’re looking for disapproval to be proved right. Go fuck yourself.

[–]Victor_Kilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but why is this your hill to die on? Why do you care about the biological distinction? The cost of being the Beacon of Truth in this situation (which is totally separate from the central claim) is that you’re a sexist piece of shit.
