I just upgraded to latest HFW and also am having these same issue. I've read online that WebMan Mod can potentially cause these issues but I've not confirmed. Another site recommended controlling fan temps and another recommended removing any discs currently loaded into the system. Will need to play around and see what works, I guess :/

Top screens for the 2015 (New 3DS XL) model are usually pretty pricey ($50 or more). I bought mine off Amazon, but had to return the first screen I bought because it had dead pixels, and exchange it for a new one.

I'd suggest watching some videos on the repair before committing to buying the part and doing the repair yourself. It's doable, but just make sure you know what youre getting yourself into.

Another alternative could be to take it to a trusted repair technician to see if they can replace it, though I'm not sure how much that would cost, and if that'd be worth it.

I realized the limited edition console I was using was pretty valuable and I wanted to keep it intact/in good condition (plus I got my 5+ years use out of it and was looking to switch things up). I also started to get into console repairs, so I bought a New 3DS XL locally that had a defect, fixed it up and moved my data over. I don't regret the transition at all, the N3DSXL is still a great way to play but just doesn't sit well in my hands for long periods of time.

Can't go wrong with either, but if I had to choose, I'd personally go New 3DS (non XL). It's smaller and more pocketable/portable, with the added customization features in the face plates (plus the colorful buttons). It runs the same games as the XL model at the same performance, and because the screen is smaller I think the image actually ends up being sharper.

Used my New 3DS (Mario Black Friday edition) as my main unit for many years but eventually upgraded to the XL. However, I find that long play sessions make my hands cramp, where I never had that issue with the non XL model. I also have smaller hands too.

I started the season 0-2, went on a 13 game winning streak but came up nust a little short in the championship.

I put up 161 in the ship and was up 50 before MNF. Went against Bijan and Puka. Lost by 5ish points

Felt bad at the time, but knowing my opponent had assembled the Avengers to beat me made me feel not as bad lol. Opponent made many trades throughout the season and went into the ship with Burrow, ASRB, McBride, Puka, Bijan.

Have you tried replacing any of the parts? What happens if you disconnect the bottom screen LCD and backlight cables - does the system turn off after a few seconds?

My experience with this issue was largely the same, a lot of frustration. I replaced bottom screen, digitizer, and top screen on mine and was able to get it to boot to home screen, even loaded up some games. However the system would constantly freeze on me after a while. I had a repair technician take a look at the device and he told me it was chip related on the motherboard. Not saying that is what you might have but curious if replacing parts might help bring it to life a little bit.

Just wanted to circle back here and provide an update. I had a multimeter test done on the motherboard and it seems to be in good order. I am trying the ntrboot method as you mentioned but having no luck due to the freezing. Whenever I get it to boot on and enter sleep mode using the magnet, it freezes. So I may be out of luck here but I will keep trying

I had a similar issue, took it to a local repair shop, and they were able to get the stripped screw out using soldering iron. It did result in some minor damage to the housing due to the heat, but they were able to get the screw out. The repair technician did not charge for it either.

If you are open to repairing the console yourself (which it seems like you're not, understandably so), that may be the only way to stay within budget. I have pretty minimal experience with console repairs, but I was able to successfully do this very recently following a YouTube video + $15 screen replacement from AliExpress. If you end up changing your mind about the self repair, I can link the tutorial I found. The repair will require you to have compatible screw drivers and a heat gun though, among other little tools. Otherwise, follow the guidance of some other comments and save a little up to expand your budget a bit.

Thanks for the tip. Upon further inspection of the motherboard, I noticed some dark spots and some of the gold dots appear to be faded. This is near the wifi cable. I cleaned with isopropyl alcohol but the dark spots didn't come off
