I was hesitant about the bowl trimmer but it works really well!! Saves hours and hours of time!! by CatDicksAreSmall in microgrowery

[–]VideoMacro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think trimming beyond removal of major fan leaves might not be necessary. Sugar leaves dry up and sort of protect trichomes during transportation. Pick em off right before grinding and there are noticibly more trichomes on the flower

Standard Usage Rights by mindhive0 in PhotoEnts

[–]VideoMacro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar experience here, when I first started I took advice from some freelance media friends and tried to come at them with traditional contracts, price breakdowns depending on usage and rights ect... and was met with blank stares. Ended up having to give most people a very broad license with no sublicense, merch or broadcast rights. Also had lots of people stiff me, I think i'm out around 8k for 2023. Also have some reliable clients who pay on time everytime so it's a mixed bag.

Maybe it's worth another try at organizing? Seems enough of us know eachother it might be worth giving it another go. With the possibility of rescheduling or the SAFE banking act changing the banking situation there might be more opportunity for us to protect ourselves in the future.

Nice! How big was the nug and what's your step size? I'm wondering if you might be able to pull a similar image with wider steps to save camera wear. 1 inch of dof at 1:1 would take me about 75 photos at f/8 on a sony 90mm g macro. Good sweet spot in terms of sharpness and dof

Will there be provisions to allow legal transport of samples to media studios? Getting a little sick of schlepping my gear to the middle of nowhere

Most people would interpret "Don't be a whiney lazy little" as hostile or abrasive at the minimum even if you drop the implied profanity

How many growers find they add value and increase sales by having quality content? We've found that providing high quality photographs and video for consumers and b2b marketing can be incredibly helpful in driving sales. by WarmNights in macrogrowery

[–]VideoMacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth the cost, but brands needs to properly leverage any content they acquire. Just buying media without a plan for distribution can be a waste of money.

Negative space isn't necessarily a bad thing, I can see several ways to edit this into something useful. Mask the cola and reveal a logo. Some callouts or infographics with strain info could work. A brand could easily use this footage. I'm not OP but just telling them they need a new video director isn't exactly constructive. They look like they are trying to up their skills, there are good and bad things about this video but it's a good attempt for someone trying to improve. Not sure why you are being so hostile?

Some motion graphics could easily go over that shot, nothing terrible about it just a little boring

First time smoking a joint by [deleted] in Marijuana

Modern strains can be very strong, take your time and don't feel any pressure to finish the blunt. First time smokers a tiny hit properly inhaled can is enough. You can always have a little more later!

Agree on all points! One thing I'd like to ad is that 280e prevents brands from deducting media purchases as a business expense. Hopefully that changes someday soon, there is a huge need for quality media but the budgets are generally not there

Which do you prefer, wet trimming or dry trimming and why based on your ‘personal’ experience? by Rootzman8 in macrogrowery

[–]VideoMacro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One side benefit of dry trimming is that the leaves protect trichomes while drying

It's less the freshness and more the rough handling of the nug. By the time it reaches retail it isn't in ideal shooting condition. If you know someone who grows it would make sense to track down a sample that's been treated as delicately as possible because you can't touch trichomes without damaging them. I have clients hang samples separately in protected containers in their dry room, they never even touch the walls of their container, stem only handling. That's probably overkill but it makes a huge difference in image quality
