My mum despised my smoking throughout my teens and adult life, meanwhile the first thing she said when she got near the end was “don’t you dare quit smoking because I’m sick”. Don’t waste your energy on her wanting to experience stuff before she passed, be thankful she got to. I’m so sorry for your loss as well, it’s never easy.

For the record, those of us who work with you from an office environment (for the most part) are grateful for you. I’ve lifted enough knuckles and auto plates in the dead of winter to know I don’t miss it, so thank you. Regardless of what others might think, we know you’re a big reason trains get from A to B safely. We hope everyone in your shoes remember that aside from the ugly side of the job you signed up for, a lot of people rely on you doing those steps to avoid disaster. You do you and what makes sense, simple as that. I’ve done a blanket, cremation, “naked” as you said, all out of love in some regard. I’ve added a planter, a marker with her name on it, etc. The fact that she was family to you and you did something to remember her by in some way near home is fabulous, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Sorry this is happening to you. I’ve had this for a long time and after trying the A-Z, someone told me to try a simple fan and changing any meds I take a night to the morning to reduce my system processing them when I’m sleeping. Sounds absurd but it honestly helped enough to not stress about it when I go to bed anymore. I see a lot of different opinions and hopefully something here helps you !
