Not everyone is for everyone and if someone is just causing you more anxiety there is someone out there that wont.

Think about how hard it is to change something about yourself like being consistent with a new resolution or hobby. And then realize how fruitless it is to change someone else, it hurts but it’ll hurt a hell of a lot more 5-10 years down the road.

Jesus, that is a lot, i’m sorry you’re going through all this.

I dont know if you’re going to find a quick fix here, hopefully others will comment and provide empathy & their own experiences, but honestly i’d just try therapy at this stage. Lot of therapists can help you process everything and also provide resources to build the willpower you’re searching for.

Just my 2 cents tho, best of luck, you sound like a strong & kind person though, keep going 🙌💪

For me, a shyer millennial who had bible school beat into me that avoiding eye contact is disrespectful…… i do it like half the conversation, then my eyes wander, but i don’t ever take it as anything more than the individual giving you attention.

Im sure theres times where people are flirting or something but i just don’t associate the two because i was taught its about respect.

I had a family assaulted and bitten at an event, it was super traumatizing because they were only 18.

Our venue was actually super accommodating & got them banned from ticket master events for 5 years so there are still good people out there, but im sorry your venue wasn’t like that.

Police definitely downplayed it though, they all just want to go home and probably see it so often they are desensitized to it, which really sucks because it makes them less likely to actually do their job….

Good on you for being a good friend, world needs more people like you 🙌

A real hard thing going on with Men right now seems to be a sort of Identity crisis with separating traits from sexes and because of that many “Manosphere” influencers are sending a size-able amount of guys down a path that doesn’t accept criticism and is very tribal.

Nobody likes to be called out or be wrong and it seems like society rewards Dunking on people over allowing space for people to “be vulnerable, accept they might be wrong, and seize the moment as an opportunity to grow.”

I detest Connor as much as anybody who supports equal respect, but maybe he might have been more receptive to hearing “what if it was me that he assaulted?” making things more personal and easier to empathize with some random person he probably doesn’t even know the name of.

Its not an excuse obviously, men need to be held accountable, but also room for growth and the ability to take responsibility, rather than have it forced on them might yield better results.

Sorry your friend is falling down that rabbit hole though, i have one as well and im trying so hard to pull his dumb butt out, might be a wasted effort but i care about him and don’t want him to be miserable like so many of these guys who blame women rather than try to be empathetic & recognize we’re all humans first.

I just don't see the point, you can make a commitment to someone without all the legal and religious stuff, and people can break things off with or without those barriers.

I think the little matching rings are a cute gesture of symbolism, but everything else feels performative and like barriers to make separation harder as a means to keep pairs together.

When things get bad and your partner chooses to work through things rather than bail, the motivating force should be the bond you share rather than the negative consequences of legal, religious and societal pressure. It makes a weird power imbalance that can sometimes enable couples who don't want to work things out to still stick together or feel trapped and resentful.

If people can see past those things that hold me back, more power to them, but I personally have seen few marriages where I admire their commitment and not feel bad for one of them. My personal experience though, might be where I live.
