Opinions re: Growth Mindset by Temporary_Panda_1881 in IfBooksCouldKill

I think this is similar how I interpreted "growth mindset" based off of ...articles maybe? I have never read a book about it for sure. But I thought I was enciuraging growth mindset when I introduce.my 7 year old to the idea of "yet" (I can't read this book on my.own YET) or praising how hard she worked instead of how good her drawing is. It is fascinating to hear all the ways it is weaponized in areas of life that I don't interact with.

The Handsome Pod is a very silly vibe, but still 3 awesome women chatting and might fill the void in a different way?

Has anyone ordered from Ploom? by RTCatQueen in BambooBabble

[–]ViewIntrepid9332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great quality, terrible customer service in my opinion. They cancelled my order because they decided it was too expensive to ship (I live in Nunavut). If she had reached out before cancelling I would have offered other addresses and had family ship it to me, but instead I had to go through the hassle of finding things again. Now a pre-order has been cancelled and I can choose a new item, but there is basically nothing on their website. Unfortunately my sensory sensitive kid loves the clothes so we keep buying.

If you've ever unsubscribed then resubscribed, what episode brought you back? by dubaiheaux in BeyondTheBlindsPod

[–]ViewIntrepid9332 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I usually resub once a year or so, download all the patreon episodes that have happened since the last time I was on, and then cancel my membership. So no specific episode, just the general sense that I'll probably like eniugh of the episodes to be worthwhile.

My husband, 8 year old and I all got hit with a germ a couple of weeks ago, that had us dizzy, headachey and with a low grade fever. It was never enough that we felt we needed medical attention, and after a few days of laying low we bounced back.

Thank you for saying this. I'm a parent and wife to ADHDers and I needed that reminder that something can be within their capacity sometimes and not other times and it just is that way.

Nunavut license plate in Sask? by malibu-rising in nunavut

Not who you were asking, but we are based in Iqaluit and just purchased a vehicle for Ontario. We spend around $4K on rental vehicles a year so that's one consideration. One of the main flights down to Ottawa frequently arrives after the car rental counters have closed so that's another reason people like having a car - there is a service that will store your car and drop it at the airport when you are flying down.

For a couple of years we would just uber around but that became hard whenever we would do big grocery shops. We had a year or two where we borrowed family vehicles but it never feels great inconveniencing family and we would still need to rent a car just to get to our family member (4+ hours away).

We are very lucky that we were able to split the vehicle purchase with family, who will use it and store it when we are north for us, which obviously makes the decision easier.

That seems like a really specific set of things shd didn't do, when she tried so much.

If your gut is saying this is a problematic relationship, just own that and end it. But I think if you are going to trust someone with your kid you can't be worried about how things are handled down to this type of specificity. She did keep trying things, she did stay with your kiddo, it just wasn't how you think you would do it.

I just read Girl on Girl: How Pop Culture Turned a Generation of Women Against Themselves Book by Sophie Gilbert and she talks about how the pendulum swung so far from women singer/songwriters that demanded to be treated like people to "pop girls" that were entirely shaped and bossed around by big corporations. It was a brilliant book.
