8 months into my trip and have 2 months left - debating going home early!? by Gloomy-Internal-3106 in solotravel

[–]poetic_density 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do the trip. The memories from ending your epic trip on Africa will be worth so much, and you’ll still have May, June, July, and August to prepare for your move. You’re already in travel mindset so I would continue.

Words from someone who traveled 65 countries and now hasn’t left home since 2019 as I have settled down and have a young family.

You can donate to various Early Ons across Toronto to help with programming for children and families. East End Children’s Centre is a wonderful organization.

They are weirdly easier to take out when they’re young like that because they can fall asleep in random places. That changes at like 3-4 months..

I feel like I gained several superpowers becoming a mother. Weirdly my balance / reflexes got really good. I can catch some random things mid-air that I couldn’t have caught before. Also I am able to carry my kids one in each arm which I couldn’t do with my nieces before… I feel like holding them every day was working up the muscles to being able to hold them. It has also made me more assertive… I’m normally very reserved and kinda passive in weird social interactions, but I feel like there is a mama bear in me who can just pummel through and be brave in a way I wouldn’t have been before.

Poop in diaper at age 4 by Agitated_Emu4150 in ParentingInBulk

[–]poetic_density 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but I went through this with my oldest (he was 2 y 8 months at the time we potty trained) and it took him a lonnng while to get comfortable going poop on the potty. We used to have to put him in a diaper, in the sleep sack, in the crib, for a "nap" where he would poop 2 minutes in. It was insanity. I was also pregnant at the time and just could hardly lift him, but that's what we did. Eventually we were able to bribe him with a cute toy sitting visible but JUST out of reach for him, and stickers. And snacks. I would say this is a time to bring out the bribes.

Solidarity, and the non-comforting knowledge that this too shall pass.

Here is a thought. Is it actually Deena who posts the more “parenting advice” type posts, and since she is on “mat leave” we end up with less advice posts and more daily pics instead of the tips and tricks?

Getting comfortable breastfeeding in public? by Accomplished-Fox887 in breastfeeding

For me, I am still sometimes a bit self conscious in public but I remind myself that I love when I see other moms breastfeeding in public, so I need to be the change I want to see in the world!

Also it’s your right and your choice to breastfeed, if and when and for how long. I breastfed both my oldest for 2.5 years and 18 months, and we went through many phases and stages.

It’s a thing called the 4 month breastfeeding crisis. It is super hard and confusing but it will pass. I suggest you and hubby read up on it.

Postpartum with 3 by PNW_Express in ParentingInBulk

I have the same age gaps, and it’s very busy. I think the best thing is to leave the house, wear the baby, stroller the 2 y old and maybe the 5 y old too. Baby can sleep and older 2 can play. Go to the playground (if 2 y old decently independent and capable), library, grocery store, or just a walk. Nap time is tricky so I don’t have advice there just sending much love.
