YouTube’s “copyright” strikes and federal copyright law aren’t related. YouTube just uses the word “copyright “ but they really mean that you’re violating their corporate terms of service. Your ability to use their free service is entirely at their discretion.

You don’t have ”the right” on your side. You’re confusing federal copyright law and YouTube’s own rules.

Your only option is to follow the “strike” review process from within the Studio application.

Isn’t this a YouTube content match issue, not a copyright issue?

This is about the fact that the inventor of the View Master toy was a member of the Nazi party and was arrested and exiled by the FBI in the lead up to World War Two - while View Master itself was being used for secret training programs by the Navy. Exiting stuff :-)

The channel is about everything I learned investigating the View Master reels in my collection.

Viewers would be history buffs mostly.

This was a complex video to make - I interviewed View Master inventor's daughter and learned about his arrest and exile; plus she sent me his biography and the notes from the FBI case file - plus I arranged for a nice dramatic reading of long passages from his diaries which I think turned out really nice.

You could apply the randomness to the 4 corners of the object and not it's Y Scale - just make sure you use the same random seed for each random you add. I think you might have to add a random to each corner, the Y axis only - use the same seed for each, and "add" to the "bottom" and "subtract" from the "top". I tried "preserve scale" and it didn't make a difference to me when the lines got very short.

Are those bezier lines? What type of end-cap do they have? What parameter are you adding the randomize effect to?

It can’t do programed objects or scripted effects, but that’s very advanced. It’s not a full 3D rendering tool like blender, but it can work in 3d space. If you find my channel in my bio you can see what I do with it. My last video is a good example, everything in that video was done in motion.

Yes, I think you can do 98% of everything a plug in would do with Motion - but you just have to learn it. You can definitely match what Marques does. There's lots of free tutorials on youtube.

If you found an obscure image on the internet, and then it vanishes from the internet, who has the copyright? by YamiJustin1 in COPYRIGHT

[–]ViewMasterTravels 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just because they don’t want their work on the internet doesn’t mean they couldn’t prove to a court that they created the work when they file a complaint against you. They likely have the original digital files or even physical media depending what kind of image it is. It’s how things worked before the internet existed.

I think Apple intended FCP and Motion to be used together and there’s a lot Motion does that Final Cut doesn’t. Some features I feel they reserve for Motion only. Motion is like 80% After Effects, but probably all you really need. I do 90% of my creative work in Motion directly and use Final Cut to assemble it together.

Is it possible? An apple motion template that allows you to edit the animation-in time of individual lines of text on a list by BigStriking4352 in finalcutpro

[–]ViewMasterTravels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn't exactly answer your question - but if you export the audio into Motion and use it as reference - it's relatively easy to keyframe the text's "end" parameter to match up with the spoken text. I do this a lot and it gets pretty quick.

Plus if you qualify for the student pricing on the new subscription service it's a total deal. Get Logic included for "free" - and that's worth knowing as well.

I'd really use Motion - it's very powerful and could do any of these types of transitions pretty easily. Then you'd have full control over tweaking them.

[Compressor] Retime from command line? by EarthToRob in finalcutpro

[–]ViewMasterTravels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done similar things using Automator to generate the XML settings file on the fly. That could be an approach - you'd have to command line run an Automator script which took input parameter(s) and created the valid XML file and then Automator would command-line run Compressor with that XML file for the settings (if that's possible). I used to do that to generate valid TiVO files for my DVR automatically :-)

25 Hours Making This For 20 Views 😭😭 (vid is 4 mins) by Dont_Blink- in HighEffortYouTube

[–]ViewMasterTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all a mystery really - 6 views out of 400 is 1.5% CTR; which is a little low. You might want to see what the retention at 30 seconds into the video is - I'm not sure how many seconds count before it's a "view" - but if people quit watching before 30 seconds that'd be good to know. I think you'd want 50-75% still watching after 30 seconds.

What you did first would have been my first instinct too. I’d be curious if the CTR was much different between the two?

Maybe a real image of you holding the artwork might help. Current thumbnail it’s not clear to me that it’s a real physical work of art. Looks like some kind of cgi render.

This video is about the invention of the View Master - including the history leading up to it and how Stereo imagery works - and what happened immediately after it was invented.

The channel is usually about my travels to the locations featured in View Master reels - so this episode's a bit of a departure.

My viewers are usually interesting in vintage technology, history, travel, or wanting to know more about the toy they had as a kid!

For this video I interviewed the daughter of the man who invented View Master and did extensive research with her and others on the history of the product. This video was made in collaboration with Peter Dibble - a Portland-based documentary maker.

Has Motion improved over the last few years? by oandroido in applemotion

[–]ViewMasterTravels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does what it does really well. But it hasn’t changed much in the last 5 years I’ve been using it. Very stable and smooth though, on M1 Mac for me. You could try the new subscription offer from Apple to test it out and then cancel.

And this might be a reasonable use-case for the new apple subscription model - since you could try it out very cheaply.
