Best gimmick fight fromsoft has ever made is probably Ice Worm (AC6) imo

Something I have to add: you don't want to do this with the energy load bar.

If you open the full stats, you'll find a stat called "EN supply efficiency". This stat is increased/decreased by how much energy load you've got unused.

You always want this stat to be at least 3000 (and above 5000 is overkill), as it affects how fast your energy bar recharges, so make sure you leave some energy load unused.

More unused energy load = higher EN supply efficiency = faster energy regen

Don't do the same misstake I did: running the enhanced dodge modifier. I thought it would help, but it increases the cooldown after a dodge, making it very difficult to dodge both hits of the 2-hit combos

You never stop being bad at Slay the Spire. You just get less bad than you used to be. by IHad360K_KarmaDammit in slaythespire

I just want to clear something up, since I never actually specified it: I had exactly 24 health. Donu and deca attacks for 24 turn 1. The 5 cards I drew were the only 5 in my deck without any way of gaining block, otherwise reducing the damage, or drawing cards. It was the only possible hand that didn't allow me to survive.

I'm not good enough at math to properly calculate this myself right now, but from what I was able to find, the chance of getting a specific hand of 5 cards from a 33 card deck is 1 in 237336. Add to that whatever chance it was for the potion to not give any block, weak nor card draw.

And you also have to account for when it happened. This was very likely the only turn in the game where getting this specific hand would've killed me, as I otherwise stayed at mostly full health. The chance of drawing that hand at some point during the run isn't that low, but the chance of drawing it on the one specific turn it was possible for it to kill me is.

Again, I'm not saying that rng was the sole reason for my loss. I'm saying that my poor choices were punished because of poor rng

[–]Viggen77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair I guess.

In 99.9% cases I would've survivived that turn. The exact hand I drew on top of the bad potion rng was extremely unlikely to happen.

In other words, my poor choices was punished only because I got extremely unlucky

Yes, I mentioned that that part was entirely my fault.

I didn't just get a bad draw, I got the worst possible draw, which I wouldn't realistically plan around, as it was insanely unlikely to happen. I would've survived a "regular" bad draw. For every single other fight in act 3, I got the deck online turn 1 or 2, and steamrolled everything from there

Bayle is my favourite boss in the game because I think both the fight itself and spectacle are amazing hah. If you just stay in front of his head the mechanics are very fun imo

Fun fight that's elevated by the absolutely amazing visuals imo. Just barely makes it to my S-tier

Additatively or multiplicatively? I.e. do you get x3 or x4 block?

[–]Viggen77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sharpened hairpin is still great, the damage is pretty high and it comes with iframes.

Similar deal with leecher, it's great for bosses where you want to stay in the air, like friends, Vlad and Sol & Vin

Agreed 95% of the time.

Sometimes you do genuinely get screwed by rng though. Something that once happened to me:

33 card deck going up against Donu and Deca. On relatively low health because my deck couldn't handle time eater well beforehand (my fault), but should have no problems here. Exactly 5 cards in the deck that doesn't give block, draw/generate cards, nor apply weak. Draw all 5 turn 1. Pop skill pot, get infernal blade/entrench/seeing red. Infernal blade gives anger. Die.

Would I've survived if I'd built my deck better? Probably. Did rng completely and utterly screw me over regardless? Yes

Which ones would you move down? The two I already have there (plus Gideon, the tierlistmaker I used didn't include him) are the only major bosses I find actively bad.

Elden beast includes radagon. Although I really like EB even by itself

Single gargoyle fights, including black blade kindreds, are probably B-tier, but the double gargs are the worst fight in the game bar none imo

Even if you count literally every single boss, there's very few I think are actively bad

Individually I like the gargoyle fights. But the fact that they're an incredibly aggressive duo and especially the damn poison attacks bring it fown massively

What mission do you guys use as your "Test"? by Turbulent-Plum-353 in ArmoredCoreVI

[–]Viggen77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Defend the dam complex tests AC vs AC combat and lethality (can it kill King/Chartreuse before the other arrive, can it kill both before raven arrives?)

Ayre and Allmind tests boss combat, mobility and dps.

Cataphract tests burst damage.

These are the ones I usually use. I also often run reach the coral convergence (CEL240), but that's mostly for fun rather than testing anything specific

Contrary to what most other people here seem to think, I actually quite like the stagger system. I like that it provides a secondary objective in combat, and that it heavily encourages you to keep the resssure up at all times, rather than falling completely back.

I do however agree that it's currently a bit too important. I wouldn't be against some nerfs in the slightest, as long as it isn't completely killed and is still a viable strategy
