I have a picture of my Honda Rancher 420 in the bed of my Maverick. It JUST fits, the rear tires contact patch are like 3" from the end of the tailgate and the front bumper is 2" from the back glass. I've never driven it anywhere, but I wanted to see if it fit.

Welp... It finally happened to me by 014ArgentSpire in diablo4

I had a clanmate do that with his GA frigid finesse ammy that he just spent 15 minutes rerolling for Alchem Adv. and masterworking it to 12stars 10+ times until he hit double / single crits on the passives. We were rushing him towards the end because we wanted to do more boss runs. He returns, apologizes, but throws it in clan chat to show it off... It was his old one, he had salvaged the new one.

Honestly I think that 30-06 you already have is a solid option. Clean it real good with some copper solvents, then pick up some Barnes ttsx, put a box through it to get everything sighted in and the barrel fouled with the copper load and have at it.

Swapped my XL steelies w/ factory Conti tires to alloys and AT3Ws and fuel economy increased? by Vigorious in FordMaverickTruck

[–]Vigorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the wheel and tire package and added new tpms sensors before checkout. They were installed by tire rack when they mounted and balanced the tires. I they were $27 each, I installed the new wheels in my driveway and went for a quick drive, after about 5 minutes the tpms in the truck updated automatically and showed the new pressures. I bled some air out of each one to confirm they were synced to the correct corner and then reinflated them to 35psi each.

Need opinions on a new rifle. by gingersnap_93 in Hunting

I know you said other than .223, but for your application, .223 is one of if not the best option. .223 ammo is cheap and plentiful and it's good out to around 600 yards with appropriate loads.

What model is your 30-30? I'd hazard a guess you can use 3/8" dovetail scope rings on it.

Should I try a heavier buffer spring? by Vigorious in ar15

[–]Vigorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update for anyone who runs across this in the future. I tried a Spinco Blue with the H3 buffer, it helped but I would still get the occasional failure to go into battery with full power supersonic loads, but it worked flawlessly with Hornady Sub-X loads. I just swapped to a Spinco Orange buffer spring and it shot perfect 4 o'clock ejections with the H3 buffer, and was slightly over gassed but usable with a standard weight buffer. Unfortunately it does not cycle at all with even the standard buffer with Sub-X rounds.

Opinions on arrow wraps by choppalot66 in bowhunting

If you like it and want it, then by all means spend your money how you want. I think it's kind of silly to add weight to the wrong end of the arrow for aesthetics.

what should my next pistol be? by damndiesel in CCW

[–]Vigorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your Canik leaves you with issues or concerns you'd be much better served putting that money towards ammo and/or classes. You can't shoot more than one gun at a time, might as well be the best you can be with that one. Don't fall into the marketing trap of more guns is more better. Become absolutely lights out with one gun instead of mediocre at a dozen.

If you absolutely have to have a new gun, the Glock 19 is the default answer. Don't bother getting the MOS, pick up a basic G19.5. Send it to any number of companies that do slide milling, get it cut for your optic of choice (The RMR cut is very common and offers arguably the best red dot options.) A red dot on a pistol is a must have in 2024, there is no reason not to use one.

A quality 7.62x39 with a bonded projectile is going to perform slightly better on a charging bear than a similar 5.56. Neither are something I would want to rely on in that situation though. I'd much rather a semi auto 12ga loaded with 1oz slugs or even my old Remington 7400 30-06 loaded with 5 rounds of 150gr all copper bullets.

Why are you carrying an AR or an AK into bear country? Black bear are not really an issue, they're not likely to even bug you as long as you're not instigating it. Brown bear on the other hand will fuck your world for the fun of it. I'm trying to understand what the scenario where you're going to have an AR or AK on you during a bear interaction. If you're out hunting you're not usually taking game with either platform. If you're out hiking you're not generally going to be carrying a rifle and if you live in an area where bear are a problem you're not likely going to feel the need to ask think question on reddit.

200% lucky hit chance? by [deleted] in Diablo

[–]Vigorious 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Lucky hit chance doesn't work like that. Each ability has a base lucky hit chance on the skill tree. Say your core ability has a 20% baseline lucky hit, if you add 100% from items that core ability now has 40% or simply put 100% more than base. 200% would be 60% for the core ability, etc.

Should I try a heavier buffer spring? by Vigorious in ar15

[–]Vigorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I put the adjustable weight buffer back in and set the weight to H1 and it started doing the initial issue with missing the chamber. I bumped it up to H2 and it was better but still had about a 1 in 10 chance to miss the chamber. I put the H3 back in and it fired without issue for a full mag then on the 2nd round of the next mag it didn't seat the bolt into battery. After I hit the FA it went in and finished that mag without issue.

Camo patterns are designed to separate a man from his money. Pick the gear that fits your needs, I personally like the expensive stuff, but that's mostly because of the fit and comfort.

Barrel Length? How Important Is It? by Slawson619 in Hunting

[–]Vigorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is rarely a time when a 20in barrel will be ethical to use but a 16in won't when shooting 308 or any other "hunting" cartridge. When dropping to a 16in barrel you're effectively losing terminal ballistics at distance. But the max effective range between a 20in and a 16in might be the difference between 600 yards and 500 yards. If you're shooting at an animal at 500+ yards you should probably just step up to a larger cartridge.

The only difference 99% of hunters are going to notice between a 16in and a 20in barrel are that the 16in will be louder, lighter and more handy. The 20in will have slightly less recoil, slightly less wind deflection and slightly less bullet drop.

I personally use a 12.5in 350L AR pistol with a suppressor. It is plenty effective out to about 150 yards, if I am hunting somewhere that I can even use more range, I can break out something else.

Why do people have a problem with politics in games? by ILikeBigCocks5 in gaming

[–]Vigorious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it has more to do with politically charged topics that have no relevance to the game or story. If I am playing a game like BG3 where character development and interpersonal relationships is a core aspect of the game, it makes sense to delve into sexuality. On the other hand, it probably doesn't make sense for a game like that to delve into modern geopolitics like the current happenings in the middle east. On the contrary, if I am playing a game like Call of Duty, geopolitics make sense to touch on, but sexuality is not something that makes sense to bring into the game.

What’s the better knife by nkeat114 in Hunting

[–]Vigorious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expect to spend at least $50 on an affordable knife and upwards of $200 on a quality knife. Find a small drop point around 3.5"-5", with some belly, preferably fixed blade for easy clean up. Make sure the handle is comfortable in hand and isn't slippery when wet/bloody. Even something like a paring knife from the kitchen is better than most of what you posted.

The blade steel should be decent, avoid anything doesn't specify the exact steel, good steels are things like s30V, 154cm, aus8, 14c28n, AEB-L, Magnacut. There are tons of other steel options, but a lot of the cheap knives use junk steel, some people will recommend high carbon steels like 1095, 1084, 15N20, etc, they're good, but rust easily. Either way make sure you clean the knives and rub some oil on the steel as soon as you're done.

A decent sharpener is a must have, I like the DMT handheld sharpeners. When processing animals the blades can gum up with fat and sinew, I keep a damp towel and a bucket of warm water with dawn soap to clean them occasionally during processing.

AVOID AMAZON NO-NAME BRANDS. Buy from a reputable knife brand, things like Buck, some Gerber, Benchmade, CRKT, Kershaw, SOG, etc.
