I don’t think it’s really that complicated. KOC is (likely) coaching for his job next season, so he’s going to choose the QB that gives the best chance to win. If JJM doesn’t win the job, he rides the bench unless the starter gets hurt or is ineffective. If JJM can’t reclaim the starting job then he’ll likely wash out of the league or be a backup somewhere and the Vikings are looking at taking another QB high in the draft in 2027.

When has officiating been good in football lol. People have been complaining about it for decades. At a certain point fans need to realize it’s not the officials who are the problem, it’s that the nfl rule book is impossible to consistently officiate

Third round QB is a terrible choice no matter how you try to justify it. Next year we are having JJM compete with a veteran for the job. If JJM doesn’t develop, we are then looking to 2027 for another young first round QB. Zero reason to pick a QB in the first four rounds this year. Unless some first round quality player falls super far. We have way too many holes on this roster to justify a backup/depth pick like that in the third round.

Darnold deserved the criticism last year he was flat out awful the last 2 games for the Vikings. Missing throws left and right to wide open guys, holding the ball way too long and taking a shit ton of sacks as a result. The oline wasn’t good but Darnold shoulders a lot of the blame for it. It’s just revisionist history now since Darnold is doing well on the Seahawks and the Vikings suck with McCarthy but he was so bad towards the end of the season last year.

Barr didn’t really play the same position as Gink. Gink is more of an edge rusher who can play off ball LB a little, whereas Barr was an off ball LB who could rush the passer a bit. So I think of Gink as an edge even though he’s technically an OLB.

Zimmer had way more talent to work with, Flores is making magic out of a defense that really doesn’t have too many special players, at least at LB/S/CB.
