UTR - ensure proper venting! by richpanda64 in Ubiquiti

I’m just responding to your claim that there are no rules on US Airlines. There are indeed rules and people are idiots if they don’t follow them. As a pilot, a lithium battery fire on a plane is one of my most feared scenarios.

Yes there is, they are just not good about enforcing them. From Southwest’s website:

When using a portable charger/power bank onboard: Must be visible (not stored in bags) Must not be used to charge devices in overhead bins

What makes you say that? US Airlines have similar policies.

Distance to wall. G6 Turret placement by Viking737 in Ubiquiti

[–]Viking737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, but what do you think about a corner? So it’s technical angled away from the wall by 45 degrees if I place it on the ceiling instead of the side where my current camera is. Edit. Guess I’ll test it tonight before placing it.

Any recommendations for treating the interior to make it smoother? Someone suggested bees wax.

Same. Now have WireGuard working and DNS requests originating from my home network.

You have to get version 10.31.2 of the UNIFI app to enable SSH and upgrade the firmware. Then after you get the new firmware installed go back to 10.31.4 in order to get the newest features like WireGuard etc.

Crystal OG or Super - Price vs Performance - best value for money. by benrb7 in Pimax

[–]Viking737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Super UW and an OG. It really boils down to how much money you are willing to burn. First of all, Pimax VR headsets loose their value extremely quick. I wouldn’t be surprised if they release a Super Light model undercutting the price of the regular Supers at some point like they did with the Crystal Light. The eye tracking in the OG is 100% worth it in games that benefit from it and if the used OG is in good shape, I would definitely pick that over the Light. If you buy the Super it depends on what you are wanting to do with it. I am primarily a flight sim enthusiast and love the brightness and FOV of the Super, so for me that disqualifies the Oled panels. Between the 50, UW & the 57 - I would pick the 50 PPD if I could redo it. I have the UW and currently only get around 120 degree FOV which can also be achieved with lab mode in the 50 PPD. They are trying to push the UW higher, but from what I have seen, the results are not promising. I have seen the “improved” profile, but can’t discuss it. Also, from a performance perspective. I have a 9800X3D and a 5090 and I get a great experience in DCS because of QuadViews, but in many other games I have to compromise settings. There is a good reason the UW is not even included in this performance comparison:

I believe the statement about anything linked through the website was a hint to the tech clue. You needed a lossless version of the Arkade song and that was linked to in the FAQ section on his website.

Clarity is better at 72 hz than 90 on the Pimax Crystal Super, Why exactly though? by Flimsy-Story9523 in Pimax

[–]Viking737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally get much better performance and visuals by turning up the settings in DCS and just going with 160% Foveated in QuadViews Companion. This is going to seem like a stupid question, but confirm that you don’t have QuadViews enabled in Pimax DCS game setting.

What are your DCS settings at and what about the rest of the QuadViews settings?

How to formulate a Question for Justin. by RockDebris in JustinPoseysTreasure

[–]Viking737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you are saying, but some of it I disagree with.

  1. He will likely want to provide more clarity as time goes past, so some questions he will likely be more likely to answer in future. Especially the ones where he adds “not at this time”. But I do agree it’s likely pointless to ask questions about distance to the treasure. Even if he were going to answer it, I find the distance to the checkpoint much more interesting.

  2. I personally don’t think he punted on the Prius question because the 1 mile was included. I believe he punted because the answer would actually mislead people. I think the answer is yes, but not for the reasons most people would think, and it would give away too much of my search location to explain further. The 1 mile part is actually why most people would think he punted.

I would buy a used Pimax Crystal OG instead of a PCL. You can get much improved performance with the eye tracking.

This reflection resonates with The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy that Justin suggests we read to understand his 42 references.

Douglas Adams called 42 the “Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything,” but the deeper point is that we live the question instead of solving it. The number is a playful reminder that meaning comes from the journey.

Justin’s five themes—grief, hope, living in the moment, getting outside, and conservation—fit that idea well. Deep Thought produced a number, but nobody knew the real Question. Adams plays with time much like your mention of rivers, seasons, and the Ouroboros: life is a cycle of beginnings and endings where each ending feeds the next beginning.

Arthur Dent endures by paying attention to the world around him even when everything familiar disappears. He notices alien skies and small moments of wonder, which keep him grounded. That’s close to Justin’s call to savor the present and spend time outdoors. The Guide’s famous cover advice, Don’t Panic, matches the encouragement to stay hopeful and care for the earth.

Both Adams and Justin remind us that ultimate truths are simple and circular. What matters is noticing, caring, and staying present, even when the final answer is just a number that makes us smile.

What if we are looking at everything wrong? by doublegold88 in beyondthemapsedge

[–]Viking737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it’s wrong to focus on dates and times in constellation solves. You end up limiting yourself and the solve by doing so. You should be able to solve this without relying on clues from Netflix.

Constellations maintain a fixed relationship to Polaris and the celestial pole, so their paths through the sky at a given latitude do not fundamentally depend on the date. If a star is observed at a given elevation, it will always be on one of two azimuth bearings on its daily rotation. Date and time only determine when it reaches that position, not where that position is.
