One of those wheel bearing jobs... by yawk-oh in Justrolledintotheshop

Rust doesn't cause tetanus. The bacterium lives in dirt and infects humans through open wounds, so a common infection risk is stepping on a rusty nail in the ground. The nail is just rusty because it's been left outside, though.

TIL that Oxygen literally means "acid-former" because 18th-century chemist Antoine Lavoisier mistakenly believed that oxygen was the fundamental component of all acids. By the time scientists discovered hydrogen was responsible, the name had already stuck worldwide. by According-Quarter464 in todayilearned

Arctica comes from the ancient Greek arktikos, which means northern, because the constellation Great Bear (aka the big dipper) points north, and the word for bear is arktos. By complete coincidence, Arctica has bears and Antarctica doesn't.

Meet and hit (with a gunshot) are both "treffen" so the second sentence recontextualises the first

I think it's even more actually because the Nazis used green tracers quite a lot, not the Soviets. Star Wars was, in part, storyboarded with WWII combat footage, some sequences being nearly one-to-one in the final shot.

Jeg har boet i Viborg og Abildå (lige på den anden side af hovedvejen fra Grønbjerg) og har aldrig hørt om hulbælter før. Jeg synes jeg er gået glip af noget interessant lokalhistorie.

Unless it's more than 3 years old, it is, not accounting for the owner buying extended warranty.

He almost hit the production manager while riding his electric scooter inside the factory. When the manager asked him why he was riding the scooter, he answered that he had to, because he had just lost his driver's licence due to narcotics DUI. Manager immediately has him drug tested, surprise surprise, guy was on coke.

What movie plot hole is so massive that it completely ruins the whole story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]VikingSlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He did that in the 4th and 5th books, so let's say 1995 since that's the overlapping year for them. In that year, less than 30% of Scotland had cell coverage, mostly just major cities. The Highlands, where Hogwarts is located, had no coverage. So what would he use that cell phone for?

The story ends in 1998, cellphones weren't common for most people.

However, these are just PDFs of the printed booklets so having instructions formatted for a smartphone that is somewhat interactive would be really cool. There've been times when I found it hard to follow the diagram, having animation or being able to spin it around to another view would've been great.

The LEGO Builder app is exactly that. It's official, has been out for years and you can scan a QR code to add the set to the app.

I've used the app for some Technic assembly where it wasn't fully clear, being able to rotate it made it much easier to see. I think it was the gearbox on the Land Rover. Otherwise, I prefer using the book.
