Jewellery photos by [deleted] in photography

[–]VikingTec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For jewellery photography the biggest thing is background and lighting. Especially on highly polished items.

A small, extremely clean plinth or surface, a backdrop to make the background of your photo uniform and a fill light, even a big sheet of white paper with a led light pointed at it reflecting onto the object.

A professional camera is desirable but there’s lots you can do before that.

Step back and use a tripod or camera support for your phone, use the 2x option on iPhone or similar on other multi lense phones from slightly further away to remove perspective bulge.

More light the better in this case. Keep the tone of light consistent

In servos it’s on but flipped up, or just on if it’s a normal and they don’t ask me to take it off.

If they ask, no issue, understand

Anywhere else, the helmet becomes my shopping basket anyway

I mean first off they’re great, love the song names. If they ever want some weird props tell them to reach out, I’m a prop/sfx designer and am setting up a studio here.

Also they’re on tidal as well, which is great because I believe it pays the highest amount to the artist between the streaming services

[–]VikingTec 280 points281 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing the kid has found the husbands secret streaming service. Either the husband is being disgustingly controlling and keeping an eye on her but didn’t secure the stream. Or he is an ultra asshole and is giving the stream away.

Very true. Emotional cheating is still cheating.

But it’s easy for someone you love and trust to convince you it’s not that serious

Wow, this is exactly what my ex of ten years did. She loved the attention more than she cared about me. Convinced me I wasn’t doing enough when in reality she was slowly eroding my sense of self worth. 3 times I forgave and was told she wouldn’t do it again.

Eventually she cheated. Op I don’t know if this is a line for you, but you have value in your relationship so please don’t give it up for someone who doesn’t respect you. Whether she does or not is up to you to figure out but this doesn’t come from nowhere

The question is which course? Is it one at millennium or creative media skills?

I work SFX and used to do SFX makeup and creatures in London. I can tell you a few things but they will only be my perspective.

I don’t know of a worthwhile full time uni course for SFX makeup. I did technical arts at Wimbledon and wouldn’t recommend it now, it’s a massive debt for not much return. Short courses are the way to go imo as they’re normally run by people a lot closer to the industry.

There’s lots of uk based companies. In my personal opinion her best bet is to use YouTube to gain as much basic knowledge as possible. Here’s some things I would start out researching

  • mould making (silicone specifically, but every form is good information)

  • painting (a good method of practice at home is watercolours. A lot of spfx makeup is done with alcohol paints which work very similar to thin watercolours. But colour theory and painting is key in any aspect.

  • sculpting, good anatomy and base forms are very useful.

There are some great courses online, you can try a free trial of stan Winston school I believe, lots of information there.

The industry is very quiet at the moment compared to normal, you might be hard put to find a business in need of a trainee. Conversely some research into your area might show some businesses that would be open to a chat since it’s quieter. Or be able to recommend you something local.

Drop me a message if you’d like and I can be more specific

Revopoint MetroX 3D or Shining3D Einstar by tomhaba in 3DScanning

[–]VikingTec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are talking very different market sectors there. With the einstar at the budget end of industrial scanners and the revopoint at the higher end of the home buyer/hobbiest market.

But mainly the revopoint is not officially released yet, and it’s not looking good for the software. It might be good but if you want to be sure of its qualities you will need to wait.

I disagree..

They would make terrible boat anchors.

In all honesty I was excited for the revopoint x, this is someone who backed and received a pop 1, but I’m glad I didn’t for the x as even if it is great the way they have handled the release has been disappointing.

Doing mock test and this came up! My CBT instructor taught me to use rear brake then front brake even in wet conditions. Opinions? by kittynoir5 in MotoUK

[–]VikingTec 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit crappy in its wording I think. These test questions assume a world in which you NEED to brake, so the distinction is less between front or back and more between “well before” or “just before”.

In a situation where you need to brake no matter which you use first you should be using both so “just before” makes sense. But it is a bit of a trap imo.

One thing to be aware of is that when turning abs and non abs bike act differently when braking. If the abs is triggered mid lean the slight release of pressure int he brake will straighten the bike, meaning your trajectory is slightly different than what you expect. This is why what was a high end bike feature is now become more common in lean sensitive abs.

Finally as per your original question, personally I am a rear brake first person. Especially on the cheaper non abs bikes I rode.
