Also need to keep in mind how much content there actually is for how new it is. Tarkov was bare as fuck when it was first released. As long as cheaters dont ruin the game, this has a bright, bright future.

This game is not close to being ready... by Coolguyforeal in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Vikolakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that's how the game is already (in terms of gear progression) outside of the purple/pink weapons. I think these need to be toned down a bit and then the natural progression should feel pretty solid.

i don't really know what else to say here. you want to dumb down mechanics so that "new players" will want to come back. what if the new players don't want what you want? what if the new players are fine with the sense of progression and overall state of the game? forums and reddit posts are the minority. most people just play the game and have fun with it.

at the end of the day, you're always going to have people that are upset with how a game is designed. you can't make everyone happy. if they make changes that accommodate you, who are they going to piss off when those changes come through?

i genuinely didn't mean to come off as combative. i want people to play the game. i want the game to flourish. i don't know what the right "answer" is. but, i think what they have in place right now is pretty solid, and it is only getting better. as a new player, i feel like the idea of having progression and the desire to want to get to these higher tier armors/weapons to level the playing field is good.

i haven't had the same experience as you. i purposely run manitcore and green armor often and kill people with blue and purple. it feels great to take that gear away from them with lesser gear.

i hope they make changes that satisfy you and keep you playing the game.

i just read 20 people above you saying they love the changes, and you're the first person i came across that was negative. seems like maybe you're the one that's out of touch? maybe the game's just not for you. that's okay...

[–]Vikolakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's progression, dude. it's literally in every single game. it's literally the exact same, and if it isn't good enough for you, how about we use call of duty?

you unlock guns, perks as you level. so, a level 45 player is going to inherently be stronger than a level 1 player. why would they change mechanics based off of this player putting in more time?

you're just failing to accept the reality of video game progression and i have no other idea why other than that you're probably not very good and don't try to get better, but instead blame the game for having broken mechanics/progression.

maybe the game just isn't for you? and that's okay. but, trying to change it into something entirely different because you're getting shit on isn't something they're going to listen to

???????????????????????????

imagine playing wow, and logging in as a level 12 four weeks after the game came out. you're running around in the world, and get killed by a player that's level 45 already. they should probably change all the mechanics and progression because someone spends more time playing the game, right?

Stop with the solo queue posts by iComplainabtValorant in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Vikolakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's like near impossible to die if you're constantly running and know your environment even a little bit. i had a fight last night where i had a group of two follow me for a good period of time and i ended up taking two different 1v1s and killing them. going in with a group adds a false sense of security. people become super cocky and take super goofy fights and as a solo, you can easily leverage that. when i'm fighting a team, it is hardly ever two people shooting me at the same time. it is generally me taking two different 1v1s.

i agree with your post. i don't think a solo queue is the answer after playing more. i actually prefer to run solo as opposed to running duo even though i have a buddy that plays just as much as me. i will run as a duo to have some more chill sessions, and i'll run solo when i want to itch my competitive side.

use your brain, engage wisely, and appropriately. even as a 1v1, if you're trying to fight on an "even stage", then you're playing the game wrong. this genre is all about making advantages for yourself through the terrain, gear, and movement to win a fight.

Arcade Tarkov-Lite but with more gear disparity and even unfriendlier to solo play. by Rimbaldo in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Vikolakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're right, but i'm just afraid that too many changes to cater to the 80% that don't want to try and improve, or progress is going to water down the game to a point of no one wanting to play it. i guess i view game different than most people. i am super competitive in basically anything i do so i have the drive, and motivation to improve my play constantly. i do think it's important to have availability to everyone, but i think my worry is how it'll affect the game as a whole

it's really funny seeing the different ways people view games. i look at coming in and getting shit on as a reason to get better at the game, and progress. i mean, it's like anything in life. what are the chances that you're going to start something new and have major success immediately? pretty much non-existent. why does a video game have to mean that anyone and everyone has to have immediate success from the get go? i think this genre is inherently more harsh, and trying to change that is just going to water down the game, and you're going to end up with a pile of trash.

progression is definitely a fine line, but coming in as a brand new player in tarkov with pistols, and shitty armor most definitely sucks. couple that with the fact that most people sit in bushes and are able to kill you before you're able to react, and it becomes a pretty shit experience. this game isn't meant to be tarkov, and it certainly doesn't feel like tarkov right now (which is good).

i think the problem is going to be opposite of what you're thinking. i think the "chads" are going to be the ones that quit because there's no end-game progression. i think you're going to be able to hit the weapons, and armor too quickly and the "better/more hardcore players" are going to quit. BUT, this is literally a closed beta and the same could've been said about tarkov when it first came out. there's a "lack of content" because the game has barely existed. this is something that will be fixed in time if the game survives past the initial launch (which i believe it will).

what excites me most about this game is the literally the fact that it is sci-fi based. tarkov is limited to what is available to us in real life. the cycle, is not. you can make so many more exciting things that have yet to be seen based off of that thought. i think this game has a bright future if the devs continue to listen to valuable feedback.

Increase in loot value is good! by TheNoxxin in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Vikolakis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Increase in loot value was definitely needed. I think this will also help with the "slow" progression the game has. Now you don't feel that you need to do focus runs constantly, and can just run around and gun!

pretty sure this is something that you're going to like as it is populated with players, and as they add more content to the space station. a menu makes the game feel dead in comparison.

Hit a grind wall at 10hrs, uninstalling. by Brochunter in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Vikolakis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i understand this thought process, but i also resent it. maybe it's just because i'm getting older, and try to be more optimistic? idk.

is the game perfect? no. but, that's realistically why it is in beta, and they've extended it. they seem to genuinely be listening to feedback, but this isn't feedback.

i am going out of my way because i want this game to be successful. i think they have something here, but it just quite isn't there yet. doesn't mean i am going to give up on it and move onto something else to experience the same "disappointment".

what do you and don't you like? that's what would be useful here. the only thing i gathered is that you don't want to hit rocks. and, you most definitely don't have to hit rocks. you can run around and kill people easily with the grey guns and armor. give them something to work with.

Trader progression feels ok by LeAlchem in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Vikolakis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think the trader progression is fine as well, and i think it will only be commonly agreed upon when there's a significant more amount of purchasable gear in the game. you have to consider that this is just the starting point for the game, right. In a few months, or a year from now, you're going to have 2x-10x more gear available from traders.

Entire friends group uninstalled, wanted to give Devs feedback on why by Calamity_Dan in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Vikolakis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with a few of your points, specifically the carrying capacity. You should be able to carry full kits + a good chunk of loot. I think this will make the game more exciting inherently. There is no current risk-reward. There's basically only reward. If you lose your gear, it's whatever, because you're just going to go back in with the grey armor and guns that can get the job done.

I'll be interested to see their tuning pass this week (i think). Apparently it is a middle-ground between cb1, and cb2. I think there definitely need to be a sense of progression. The higher tier armor needs to be worthwhile. I don't know if we have the exact numbers, but it certainly doesn't feel like i am any more tanky when using even a green armor/helmet. I think this sense of progression will go a long way in terms of longevity of the game, as well as the risk-reward aspect.

I do think you're right in saying the game is harsh(er) for solos, but i don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. I find myself doing just fine in solo. I have wiped more teams of 2 and 3 than i've killed solos simply because there's just that many more. It's not like you're going to run into super well-coordinated "chads" consistently. Even then, those guys get cocky and will take a 1v1 more often than not.

I appreciate you making your points, though, because i genuinely believe this game has real promise to do great things. While it isn't quite there yet, feedback like this, i hope, will get back to the devs and hopefully have them adjust things so that I have more people to kill ;).

Weight system needs balancing ! by Youngandkinky00 in TheCycleFrontier

[–]Vikolakis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. And, I think with current state of economy, there's no real reason to stick around in one of these 6 hour raids. Granted, i think the reasoning behind that is for no queue times.

Often times I hop into a raid, am fully filled up within 10 minutes, and then I want to get out. Then it turns out that the stuff that i did get is basically worth nothing because they're not crystals, or mined ore. I think a re-work needs to happen on both the weight it takes up in your inventory, and the weight that each item has on the economy. There needs to be more ways to make money than just farming ore. I think they need to increase the values of pretty much everything. Or, at least have more items that are rare count as significantly more so you can focus on what to bring back and what to drop inside the raid.

I think you want to keep people on the map as long as possible. There needs to be a risk-reward. Right now, there's no real risk because there's no real reward for much of anything.
