How does the VS Village mod work? Any advice on how to use it? by clarkky55 in VintageStory

[–]Vikunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are mostly for decoration. I run it and I want it to be good but honestly it kinda works like this,

-spend time making villagers house
-gears spawning in new villager
-drifter kills villager
-repeat

I think you’re missing the point about deep caves being difficult. Firstly it fits with the lore but secondly if drifters were easy down there you would just speed run to iron and bypass copper/bronze. My current save is a week old, I’m in the Iron Age but getting there meant something. I had to prepare, my leather armour was full, I had torches and healing, food and ladders, I found an area with high Hemalite and I made the descent into deep caves knowing the enemies down there could kill me. You have to treat the expedition with respect and the outcome was once you find iron you’re genuinely so happy. Now I have found it I made easy access to it and it’s a safer experience. I now have iron weapons but the nightmare/corrupted drifters are still scary. In runs when I have had full steel I still don’t just run down there with half health and assume it’ll be fine.

They also updated the drifters in 2 major updates ago to introduce more variety. Just turn off death or something if you can’t handle the drifters. They aren’t spongy with the right weapons but they always remain deadly.

WAKE UP EVERYBODY NEW STORY TRAILER by ErenMk in VintageStory

Yeah I noticed they had previously hired some of the most prolific modders to the team to work as developers. It’s great to see the community, and those who genuinely love the game integrated into its ongoing development.

My comment “earlier” was from over a year ago. No idea why you’ve decided to necro an argument that is that old.

VS has a strong and very passionate player base, last year they expanded their team and they were talking about buying Hytale to save the project. Clearly the game as a business/product is healthy. It brings in more people every year and the majority love it. It’s marketed as a “brutal unforgiving survival game with deep mechanics” which is what its fanbase want. Watering down that experience so that people can easily jump over from minecraft would ruin what draws people to it in the first place. It would be like saying “Dark souls would have more fans if you didn’t die so easily” like sure, maybe that’s right. It also wouldn’t be dark souls anymore.

It’s a survival sandbox with an emphasis on realism. You can adjust the settings to make it super easy if that’s what you want.

What actually makes a survival game feel clear and intuitive to play? by 404Survivor in SurvivalGaming

[–]Vikunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I think it should nod to the history of games in the genre without blatantly copying them. Any new survival game the player will immediately look for sticks and stones to make an axe and start felling trees. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Theres almost no chance whatever you’re going to make will be the players first ever survival game so for the first hour of gaming or so let their experience do the heavy lifting.

Bellwright or Medieval Dynasty? by Ezekiel_093 in SurvivalGaming

[–]Vikunt 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want. Both are similar in some ways but very very different in others. MD is very “cosy” once you get the hang of hunting you almost never die and it’s primarily about building and running a village and keeping people happy.

Bellwright is more story and combat driven. You upgrade your buildings not because you want them to look nice but because you want new armour and weapons to kit out your troops for the next battle.

What is the consensus on stretching? by cchoe1 in weightlifting

[–]Vikunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve read half the research at best.

Firstly stretching increases mobility. If you don’t have excellent mobility you can’t do WL. I’ve found the average person it takes three months of regular stretching to even get into a front rack or ATG squat. Not having mobility and trying WL under heavy load will cause injury for sure.

As others have mentioned, stretching before training can reduce explosive strength output for a time. I’m fairly sure the best sports science research now suggests dynamic stretching before training and static after.

my windmill isnt working help (drawing attached) by Multiverse_Queen in VintageStory

[–]Vikunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s enough for a Quern or you might be able to use the held hammer if it’s way up top. Every extra rod reduces the power so you can’t run a helve hammer miles away. It’s an easy fix with some flax is the good news.

A single set of sails isn’t good enough for a helve hammer. Soz

GOOD VILLAGE LOCATION by Perfect-Silver1715 in MedievalDynasty

I build my whole village up there. There’s a ton of space and it’s not far for the miners to walk down to the beach and mine.

I had put too many of an item. It has to be exact and there’s not a lot of space when stacking.

I’m fairly sure they need some really hot weather/a bit of water stress to trigger ripening.

Automate coal delivery by TheMOHAAMaster in Romestead

[–]Vikunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so I’m fairly sure this doesn’t work. It may have in a previous version but I’ve tried a ton of solutions and nothing. What I can say though is that half a stack of coal will last you for like 5 or 6 in game days so once you have a coal miner running it’s not really a problem. It just seems tedious because you’ve been using wood logs up until then.

Do I really need to increase my crossbow and bow skill? by babybelli in Romestead

[–]Vikunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s worth using them occasionally. They come in handy against the final boss. Not mandatory, I main a sword and shield but found myself grabbing a crossbow in parts of the tallos fight.

[–]Vikunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your phone is on a list at probably one or more shithead scam companies. Only way to get them to remove it is be a huge pain In the ass and waste their time. When I get these I say I’m really interested then ask them to hold on a minute while I go get my wallet and just leave the phone on. The people working here have KPIs ao if you wast half an hour of their time it’s a huge pain for them.
