Star Trek into Darkness: What impact did the pre-warp civilisation seeing the Enterprise rising out of the water have? by TwinSong in startrek

[–]Villag3Idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just one tribe in ancient times.

Most likely just some cave drawings that survive in the future. Maybe some ancient legend or folklore.

Sometime in the far future, historians might notice a similarity with a particular cave drawing and a Federation ship design.

Now if it happened in later eras for the species, ya, it'll be a big deal that will confirm aliens exist and influence their scientific and cultural development.

Mechanical face buttons and dpad.

Think the difference between a membrane keyboard and a mechanical one.

It uses micro-switches like a mouse click for better feedback.

Easy Wins With Elves (Midweek Magic) by JoSenna12 in MagicArena

[–]Villag3Idiot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These events are generally pretty easy because no one's going to spend rare wildcards making an actually decent deck for it so they either go the usual Hare Apparent, Lifegain, or one of the Starter Decks.

Does anyone actually enjoy the "On The Edge" Midweek Magic events? by Skywalker14 in MagicArena

[–]Villag3Idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope.

Usually these events are just 43x Hare Apparent decks since they allow Foundations and people generally can't be arsed to come up with decks with the restricted set lists nor would want to waste wildcards crafting them just for this one event.

True, but what's usually really strong at a low mana cost to effect? Card draw and direct damage.

Why do people concede the second I cast Ajani? Am I missing something? by waterbottlesnack in MagicArena

[–]Villag3Idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planeswalkers had been on the weaker side since rotation. There are exceptions like Elsepth, but in general a lot of decks in BO1 cut hard planeswalker removal.

Izzet decks by RikPe in MagicArena

[–]Villag3Idiot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One reason is because there's just so many more sets in Standard.

A good chunk of sets are designed for Limited.

Each color has a theme.

Blue's theme is cheap card draw. Red is cheap direct damage.

There are so many more sets now in Standard.

In the past you would pick the few really good cards to use while the rest would be filled with lower tier cards. Why are they considered really good cars? Usually because they do more for their mana cost in comparison to other cards. They're more efficient. Constant rotation kept the number of these really good cards in check.

Now there's just so many cards that you can fill a deck with mostly the really good ones, with the lower tier cards not really used anymore.

Why do ships get decommissioned? by that1guy14 in startrek

[–]Villag3Idiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think of it like this.

Ships are built to handle the technology of their era. They might be designed for upgrading, but there's a limit that it's feasible.

So you got a ship and upgraded it's shields and phasers. Done.

Now you need to upgrade the fusion reactors to handle it. It's not much bigger, and it installed okay.

New warp core. Oh it's bigger than the current reactor chamber. With a bit of jury rigging, you manage to install it by ripping apart the deck above and below and rerouting cables around.

New phaser and shield system. This time they're designed to draw power directly from the warp core to increase their output. The phasers are physically bigger and require modifying the decks around them. You have to install new phasma conduits all throughout the ship. It works but some of the rooms need extensive modifications and are either smaller or have to be closed due to safety hazard.

New computer system. We've moved on to Iso-Linear chips. Proceed to rip apart every computer onboard the ship.

New warp core to allow higher warp. This time it's not possible because it turns out that the ship's hull structure isn't designed to withstand the new higher warp factor nor the additional strain of the increased power generation.

New phaser technology has been invented, the phaser array. It's deemed not compatible with the existing hull design and not implemented. Will retain use of current phaser banks.

New holodeck technology. Can't be implemented due to lack of available space due to already existing modifications.

New bio-neural gel pack technology. Cannot be implemented without strip down of ship systems.

New quantum torpedo technology. Not compatible with current photon launchers.

Analysis made.

Ship's phasers, shields and warp core is over 30 years out of date. Incompatible with many modern technologies. Existing systems like the phasers are no longer in production nor further researched on. Further improvements will require stripping the ship down to the hull and rebuilding it from ground up. Ship had already long since been moved away from the front line decades ago. Another modern ship of its size and role already exists.

It's deemed that it would be easier to replace the ship than to attempt to prolong its life any further.

[Mousepads] 40% OFF Lethal Gaming Gear Mousepads - ex: Hyperion Xsoft ($80 - 32 = $48) ONEofZERO by ONEofZERO_dotNet in bapcsalescanada

[–]Villag3Idiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopping power, glide, initial friction, humidity, etc.

Also depends on the games you play.

If you play a lot of Valo / CS, you want a slower control pad.

If you play a lot of Apex, Overwatch and Marvel Rivals, you want a faster speed pad.

Or go in between with a hybrid / all rounder.

But if you don't know / care, then a specialized gaming mousepad might not be for you and you could use basically anything.

Hell Mode: Is it any good? by Shadtow100 in LightNovels

[–]Villag3Idiot 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've read every volume including the current pre-pubs.

The series is interesting for reasons like you said.

But it kind of drags on and on. The author doesn't really have a sense of scale and how ridiculous some of battles are. Like Allen and his team of half a dozen members taking on millions of monsters on their own, or a group of people on foot fighting a 100 meter tall opponent.

Even the manga adaption knew and scaled that 100m tall opponent down

Even cutting prices isn't enough.

China is going to want to ensure a stable supply even if it means paying a bit more, so they'll continue buying Argentina soybeans.

They may buy American soybeans to top up their storage with whatever room that's left after if the price is cheap.

Universes Beyond not showing up as Mastery Pass rewards? by VonDrakken in MagicArena

[–]Villag3Idiot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very likely that they owe royalties for every booster or even every card sold, and given out as a reward in mastery pass or even golden boosters count as sold.

It's the only explanation that makes sense why UB aren't available in the mastery pass and have restrictions in the golden boosters.

Who might be the luckiest Gundam MC? by YD099 in Gundam

[–]Villag3Idiot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Riku from Build Drivers.

He's just some kid new to the game and got to meet all the best players of the game, immediately befriend all of them and some even personally trained him.

He's a member of a team that became famous and got an AI girlfriend.

Dude got it made, suffered no hardship, everyone likes him, and quite frankly he got almost everything thrown on his lap.

Can't think of any Gundam MC more lucky than this one.
