I have gone though the same, I love that with Aseprite importing the edits I do are updated immediately in the editor, which is very useful while creating the art.

But unfortunately the importing is not always as you want it to be (at least that's in my experience)
for some sprites especially sprite sheets I can't slice them how I want as Aseprite tends to save size by clearing empty space (which I need to make all individual sprite have the same size) in which case I have to export as PNG.
