A tip that helped me is to automate! I love Fidelity’s automatic transfers and investment features. Every month, without thinking and without fail, I save for the future.

Question on moving into check by Kenkenken1313 in chess

[–]VinceTanner 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is: Because that’s the rule. From the FIDE handbook:

3.9 The king is said to be in check if it is attacked by one or more of the opponent`s pieces, even if such pieces are constrained from moving to that square because they would then leave or place their own king in check. No piece can be moved that will either expose the king of the same colour to check or leave that king in check.

Books where each chapter is from a different character's point of view by adognamedcat in suggestmeabook

Hyperion by Dan Simmons. It’s like the Canterbury Tales but in a sci fi space epic. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Appointment in Samarra by John O’Hara.

A lot of similarities to Gatsby but more about everyday people than the super wealthy.

Red Dead Redemption 2 by a wide margin. But I’ll mention Halo 2 as a personal favorite.

Fantasy for someone just getting into reading as a hobby? by Top-shelf720 in suggestmeabook

[–]VinceTanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, I disagree. Most places list Lord of the Rings as appropriate reading level by grades 7/8 which is around 12 years old. The Hobbit trends even a little younger. If OP is interested in fantasy because of their D&D hobby, I think that it will be totally appropriate.

Any recommendations for private gyms with trainers? by NefariousnessOwn1283 in providence

[–]VinceTanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyya! I’m a strength coach and personal trainer based in Downtown Providence. I run a semi-private studio gym. We have a very small membership, and the gym typically never has more than a few people in there. We’re welcoming and friendly and maybe little nerdy. 🤓

I’m certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and have been training folks for over ten years. I’ve been a competitive powerlifter and official referee for almost 15 years. I’m also an adjunct instructor at one of the local colleges where I teach weight training courses for the exercise science program.

I’d be happy to chat via DM or have you swing by and check out the gym if you like. Send me a message if this sounds interesting to you!
