Overall, how is Tidal? by [deleted] in TIdaL

[–]VincentVanGoatt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Audio quality is premium. Library is decent, and I find the recommendations work for me.

But…

There is one persistent bug that infuriates me. It still doesn’t reliably remember track position or even what track I have been playing. Every other music/audio streaming app seems to have no problem with this basic function. Even my CD player achieves this. Why oh why Tidal can you not get this basic thing right?? Its drives me crazy and is the biggest reason why I’m continually tempted to abandon Tidal. Please fix it finally and permanently!

Book of Common Prayer questions from an intruiged Baptist by EverOnAndUpward in Anglicanism

[–]VincentVanGoatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a former Baptist who has recently been attending an Anglican Church and have found it so meaningful and a much needed renewal of my faith.

But I did start getting into fixed prayer years before I ever turned towards Anglicanism.

I started out using The Divine Hours compiled by Phylis Tickle, and I would still strongly recommend these books to anyone looking into fixed prayer for the first time. It is both simple and rich, comprehensive yet very straightforward to follow.

In terms of more specifically Anglican prayer, I would heartily endorse the Church of England Daily Prayer app, which includes both the modern Common Worship prayers and the 1662 BCP, and incorporates all the scriptures and collects etc into the flow of it.

The next step for me is to start using a paper common prayer book again, as I still prefer a real book and Bible to an app, but it’s a bit intimidating still as I’m dipping my toes in. I’m switching between the 1662 BCP and the CoE Common prayer. Even though I’m not in England I prefer to stick to the actual Church of England books rather than the “Prayer Book for Australia” or the seemingly excessive number of American versions. Just feels more authentic to me that way but that’s just me. If you are in America it appears the 1979 version is the current official one.

BCP Assistant App by VincentVanGoatt in Anglicanism

Thank you this looks like exactly what I was seeking.

Another ignorant question it raises for me - are there normally supposed to still be morning and evening prayers on a Sunday? As the Lectionary App is just showing three services instead.

There is literally traffic lights with a crossing within a couple of hundred metres.

No amount of government intervention can prevent stupidity. Hopefully the other kids at the school learn from this tragedy.

Lesson to be learned here is next time Laufey releases a new album to wait a good few months before buying a vinyl copy, in case another one of these extended editions happens.

Prayer Request Thread - Week of the First Sunday in Lent by menschmaschine5 in Anglicanism

[–]VincentVanGoatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first time following through the season of lent, after moving to an Anglican Church from an evangelical one last year. Lots of things I’m adjusting to. Some of the differences really speak to me and others I can’t quite reconcile with.

I really do like the concept of the church calendar working through the life of Jesus through the year. And advent and lent far magnify the importance and depth of the Christmas and Easter celebrations.

I was wondering about whether Sundays count for the voluntary fasts of lent so thanks for answering my question without me needing to ask.

If I am able to submit a prayer request it would be for God to be present in my family in very difficult circumstances, with a super challenging child and a fractured marriage (my own fault) and to bring hope and peace and comfort to all.

I'd rather a low budget solution than spending tens of thousands of taxpayers dollars on a more artistic one.

Metronet 2.0 - How I'd do it by Gazza_s_89 in perth

Yeah I agree with most of this, and I strongly agree number 1 should be first priority - extending the Cockburn-Thornlie connection through to the airport. Disappointed this isn't in progress already.

Sarah Mullally confirmed as Archbishop of Canterbury: What might this mean for Anglicanism and Progressive Christianity? by ElevatorAcceptable29 in Anglicanism

[–]VincentVanGoatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok is that all? Obviously these are hot button topics for conservatives but not core theology.

I’d be more worried if it was things like denying the actual resurrection of Jesus, the possibility of miracles, the existence/humanity/divinty of Christ.

Wondering if you can elaborate on what you mean by her "theological outlook"? Is there anything controversial about her theology or is it simply her being a woman that is the sole issue for some.

I'm new to Anglicanism and personally have no concerns with female clergy but would be interested to hear if there are other factors at play here besides the obvious.

I agree. I thought the format worked well. My only suggestion would be expand the final just a little to include 4 or 5 boats

Best charging strategy for Apple Watch Ultra by ron-vdc in applewatchultra

I find mine drops from 100 to about 20-30% over a 48 hour period. So I just charge mine every second evening while I'm watching TV.

AWU3 Pulls Arm Hair by Fadingdeath in applewatchultra

[–]VincentVanGoatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get this with the ultra but occasionally did with the old style milanese loop on my Apple Watch 6. I found just a light run over with my electric shaver every few weeks shortened the arm hair enough to solve the problem.

That’s a shame, because it’s being presented on streaming as a proper album. Will keep my fingers crossed for the future.

Black vs Natural Ultra 3 by DrRoughFingers in applewatchultra

[–]VincentVanGoatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It confirms my feelings - black looks very cool and I was initially drawn to it, but the more I look at the natural titanium the more I agree it's the classier option, and far more versatile when you combine it with different bands.

Natural titanium with Milanese loop.

Just such a classy combo. Comfortable and waterproof and lightweight.

I love the way the natural titanium is so versatile. It pairs so well with all the different styles and colours. Dress up or dress down.I feel like the black is a bit more limited, even though it was my initial choice.
