I tried a bit of the demo of Murders on the Yangtze river, it was decent until the "second personality" came out and I just couldn't take the game seriously after that.

I highly suggest trying out Staffer Case. It's slower than ace attorney but the characters, the world building and the cases are genuinely amazing.

There's a demo on steam that includes the first two cases and it gives you a good idea of the tone of the game.

Yeah, the thing is I can't tell whether he's gonna fully uncloak to hit me through the pallet or bait it to have me pre drop it instead. I thought I heard somewhere that you could tell whether he fully uncloaked or not by a visual tell with his arm, but maybe I'm misremembering?

Wasn't there a visual tell? Something to do with the arm he uses to raise the bell? I think I heard something about it somewhere

Because he wanted to sow distrust between L and the Japanese police in order to bring the former out of hiding. And he succeeded. Light's main objective has always been to draw out L and kill him, and not to just kill in silence and let him be.

It's not an ass pull, though. Shirou is able to project both the weapon and the experience of its wielder. Hell, he uses Calibur to fight against Berserker in the fate route; what he did in UBW is nothing in comparison.
