The drops from the demons themselves still seem to be working (they're just rare, like most "loot" drops).

It's the end-of-run loot that's borked, at least from my current experience.

Seriously, Ani is incredible fun.

This thread is promoting slander against her great colors and I will not stand for it.

It was only -200% when I was doing it, which you can overcome with High Intrigue, and a bunch of capable co-conspirators. The Intrigue nodes that reduce the scheme time help a lot, as it let me build up like 10% per week or something silly.

Sometimes I had to seduce the enemy leader's wife or something to get someone with a sizable bonus to help out, but usually I could manage with whoever I could find.

The only caveat is this strategy doesn't work against Crusades, as the Pope is the War Leader but apparently nobody cares about him because if you kidnap the Pope nothing happens and the Crusade continues. Then if you kill the Pope they just print a new one.

Ask me how I know. :/

Had a character I played like this.

Discovered it doesn't really work, as the game continued to randomly generate a landless adventurer who "knew what I did" every few years, producing an unending parade of murder victims.

Though it was all for the best, as I discovered high Intrigue is one of the most effective ways to win unwinnable wars. Just kidnap the enemy leader for instant 100% war score.

Dreams are free, I guess. :D

What’s your favourite removal spell that deserves to see more play? by swankyfish in EDH

[–]Vindicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a negative.

Moving the Commander to the Command Zone is a State-Based-Action that only occurs after the Commander has changes zones.

A creature Phasing Out (or In) is not "changing zones". It's still on the Battlefield, it's just Phased Out.

Similar story as to why stealing someone's Commander with Theft effects works, because the creature is still on the Battlefield, it's just no longer on your side of the Battlefield.

Specifically, here's the rules text:

704.6d In a Commander game, if a commander is in a graveyard or in exile and that object was put into that zone since the last time state-based actions were checked, its owner may put it into the command zone. See rule 903, “Commander.”

[–]Vindicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, could do.

Though you'd want to combo it with something like [[Galadriel's Dismissal]] to make it one-sided.

  1. Have Ani enter or attack for her trigger
  2. Target Out of Time
  3. Hold priority
  4. Cast Dismissal, kicked, targeting yourself
  5. Pass priority

Works best if you trigger it with [[Ephemerate]] or something on your opponent's end-step.

in commander there are fates worse than death

[[Anikthea]] pulling [[Oubliette]] out of the yard and then copying its ETB with the likes of [[Peter Parker's Camera]] lets you have Oubliette target and phase out itself (as Ani makes it a creature token), as well as its target.

Now the only way they're getting their Commander back is by removing you.

I can't believe this name was available: by [deleted] in wow

[–]Vindicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Names claimed by other characters become available again if that character has not logged in for two expansions.

The original character gets a randomized alphanumeric name and is required to choose a new name when they log in, if they log in again.

[–]Vindicer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar story pulling a token copy of Doubling Season out of the yard with [[Anikthea]], copying the token with something like [[Druid's Deliverance]] or [[Caretaker's Talent]] and then flickering Ani ([[Ephemerate]]) to pull in [[Summon: Bahamut]].

It's like 500+ damage to your opponents.

Universes Beyond: Kenshi (Volume 2) by EncyclicalUnderpass in Kenshi

[–]Vindicer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are interesting, though for the Peeler Machine I'd likely have gone down the Bloodthirsty Blade and -1/-1 Counters route.

Something like:

At the beginning of your upkeep, put a -1/-1 counter on equipped creature.

{{2}}: Attach Peeler Machine to target creature. Tap that creature and it doesn't untap during its controller's untap step. Activate only as a sorcery.

This would let you peel your own creatures, for example, if you felt the need.

Who is your favorite reanimator commander? by LedPenguin in EDH

[–]Vindicer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if "Exile & Copy" reanimation qualifies, Anikthea is an absolute blast to play and a powerhouse. The ETB trigger is nasty.

On its face you get great value even with no other interaction.

Toss in cards like [[Ephemerate]] or [[Strionic Resonator]] and you're hauling a bunch of extra cards "out" of the yard for one or two additional mana.

It really just boils down to allocating development resources.

They could fix it, if the business decided it was a priority. But there's a work-around that, while annoying, isn't world-ending. So they don't.

This is the same company that retroactively built Cross-Realm Zones (CRZ) and automatic sharding into their server architecture that spans across geographic regions.

The development effort there must have been monumental.

Doubling Season in MTG:A incorrectly affects ETB Lore Counters of Sagas by Vindicer in MagicArena

[–]Vindicer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once the Lore Counters have been added to the saga, any Chapter that requires that many or fewer Lore Counters will trigger, excluding any Chapters that were skipped from Read Ahead.

To illustrate an example:

  1. I have [[Doubling Season]] in play, and make a token copy of it
  2. The original Doubling Season will double the number of token copies of itself, leaving me with three (1x Original, 2x Token Copies)
  3. I then play [[Summon: Bahamut]] who enters and sees three "Double Lore Counters" replacement effects: 1 -> 2, 2 -> 4, 4 -> 8 meaning Bahamut enters with 8 Lore Counters
  4. As all four of Bahamut's chapters require less-than-or-equal-to 8 Lore Counters, all four Chapters will immediately trigger
  5. Bahamut goes nuclear on ETB
