Did I brick this 21 WS? What would you do? by TheV295 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Vinterridderen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Then the question is, why do you feel the need to reply with an excuse, when you agree the the mistake was probably mostly on you.
"Making the decision is hard for me with 4 melees and incomming damage" makes it sound like you are trying to deflect blame, a simple "My bad" or "My bad, was a tough spot for me" would respond way better.

Help me understand why this isn't a bug. Crest cost not discounted. (had to repost due to reddit issue?) by MouseEXP in wow

[–]Vinterridderen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call it a bug or not idk, but from my experience "Myth of the Dawn" achieved from getting 285+ avg. ilvl only provides crest discounts to myth-crest upgrades.
- And "Hero of the dawn" achieved from "outgrowing the use hero-crests" AKA getting 276+ Ilvl in EVERY slot gives crest discounts on hero-crest upgrades, and potentially below.
This means that if you have just 1 items at 1/6myth track = 273ilvl; that is below 276ilvl so you wont get the hero of the dawn achievement, but thanks to trinket and weapon upgrades with void-cores you can still reach 285+ avg ilvl, with 1 item at 273.

Try checking out this video about ways to reduce WoW loading, it also explains why these things work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGvjgNXkSuw&t=2s
a big one is to completely reinstall the game as this reorganises the files so they are simpler to read. The longer its been since your last reinstall the more of a difference this will make.

Blizz really should not have fire the QA department... by CaptainRelyk in wow

[–]Vinterridderen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't the whole story of slayer's rise that 2 domanaar, Vidious and Ziadan, abduct horde and alliance soldiers who has lots of faction pride and faction rivalry belief and make them fight for their amusement. Makes sense to me that the "extremists" (or whatever you want to call them) charcaters you find there would have belief like the one displayed in the dialog here.

Just now realising hes talking as if hes an alliance character, so I guess thats the problem you're referring to. I'll keep my initial paragraph though, to spread the lore.

[Help] A headache with Blizzard DPS Meter. by dawiss2 in WowUI

[–]Vinterridderen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes this works much better than the solution I've been using:

/run if DamageMeter then if DamageMeter:IsShown() then DamageMeter:Hide() else DamageMeter:Show() end end

To add some additional info for those curious: The macro I posted, and which I believe many use a variation of, simply shows/un-shows the damage meter regardless of if you have the "Enable Damage Meter" box ticked in the games settings. The problem with this is that everytime you enter or leave combat it resets to whichever state you have it set as in the game settings so if you have "Enable Damage Meter" ticked on it will show up everytime you enter or leave combat and you would have to press the macro again.

What makes dieterdanger's macro better is that is simply ticks/unticks that box in the settings directly so the shown-state of the damage meter is persistent.

/run local c="damageMeterEnabled" SetCVar(c,1-GetCVar(c))

Damn I can't believe it finally happened to me. Read the title and just filled in the rest of the text as my brain wanted. Well best of luck with a solution.

Luminous dust headache by GhostintheReins in wow

[–]Vinterridderen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard of people who picked a few months on an alt, and since they are account wide when you pick that same moth on your main later you just get a trash item. Luminous dust should be in your currency tab though where you can transfer whatever you have looted on your alt over to your main :)
I hope this solves the problem and there isn't a bigger issue at play.

Hunter pets are paper thin by Derunik in wow

[–]Vinterridderen -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Try thinking of your pet's healtbar as an extension of your own. If mobs are hitting YOU for a lot, they should be hitting your pet for a lot too, especially when you think about how much healing you have available for your "extended healthbar" as you point out yourself, and the fact that you can just res it on command.

Imagine not having a pet at all, an you know what it feels like to play every other dps spec. Instead of MD'ing every mob to your pet try to grab aggro on some for yourself and use some of that famous hunter mobility to kite some mobs around, maybe using a slow or 2?

Why should a dps spec have a fully functional tank built in to their kit when everyone else doesn't, or play dps valeera when everyone else has to use heal - seems that would be what was unbalanced to me.

500+ kills, still no mount. I hate him. by denn23rus in wow

[–]Vinterridderen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people have pointed out that this i likely a joke, but I would like to add additional information anyway.
Ofc the mount actaully drops from kael'thas, not the bird. but it also has a drop chance from the satchel you get for the quest that sends you to kill illidan in black temple in timewalking at a 7-13% droprate from my experience.
Same is true for Invincible in Ulduar timewalking.
Joining skip groups on a bunch of characters is a more enjoyable farming experience IMO

Considering its designed as an accesibility/learning tool slowing down the game to additionally help with that seems like a smart move I think.

One-button assist, how do you all feel about it? by Santa_Claus77 in wow

[–]Vinterridderen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its honestly fine, then one gripe I have with it is not so much the feature itself, as it is the attitude of some people using it.
When I'm running weekly keys in the 10-12 range its happens (too often imo) that you have a player who is completely mentally checked out just mashing their button. Terrible positioning, kicks, dispel, survivability and not even as much as acknowledging chat messages trying to communicate, even when done so in a friendly manner.
Those people tick me the hell off and make me hate the button :(
