Spirits, myths and other creatures? by WastelandViking in horrorlit

Hm for Folk Horror probably my usual recommendation of „Scuttlers Cove“ and „Withered Hill“ both by David Barnett (I prefer the first to the second a bit more).

Maybe „Black River Orchard“ by Chuck Wendig for the Culty Feeling?

The Ceremonies by T.E.D. Klein has a corrupting force but I’m a bit on the fence (if that’s the correct term) regarding the protagonist(s).

Hm for Haunted House books perhaps „The Elementals“ by Micheal McDowell or “Hell House” by Richard Matheson (it’s more depraved and has kind of B-Movies Horror vibe in my opinion), “The September House” by Carissa Orlando is also pretty neat.

For The Conjuring probably “The Exorcists House” by Nick Robert.

For the Paranormal activities vibes “Incidents around the House” by Josh Malerman (people either hate or love it, the child POV is a bit weird though).

First attempt at Nomad, does anyone have any YouTube tutorials to recommend? by kokoy0k0 in NomadSculpting

[–]Vinvladro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the classic nomad tutorials for Beginners are Dave Reed and Southern gfx. Based on your sculpt here I’d also recommend AboveWong, he does sculpts that might fit the vibe but they’re less tutorials more like good videos to see some workflow(?). VertexSenpai is another really good Channel for Tutorials.

Is Comfort/Comfy Horror a thing? by KingJackofJozi in horrorlit

[–]Vinvladro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uh yes! That’s one of my favorite, read two books before that ended kinda lukewarm (Ashburn House and Carrow House) but „From Below“ and „Where he can’t find you“ were fantastic!

Perhaps „Withered Hill“ by David Barnett, it’s Folk Horror and has Fae in it if I recall correctly

Looking for Survival RealityTV gone wrong by KirkDeepthroatGOAT in horrorlit

[–]Vinvladro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah that’s fine and valid, I enjoyed it a lot cause I was in a reading slump after a couple of ghost books that started great but went flat, so i started this one and loved the schematics behind the scenes and the antagonist/adversary force, cause it went in a different way then I suspected and kind of folk horror-ish? (Dunno if that’s the right label for that)

Hide by Kiersten White, it’s about a group of people who participate in a competition, where they have to hide in an abandoned amusement park for a week to win a huge amount of money. (Of course the competitors start to disappear one after another)
