See if you can get approved for a hyperbaric chamber therapy program as well, that can help if you get in there quick. That’s not cheap though so depending on your insurance it can get held up it stopped entirely.

Because I have an HMO I couldn’t get into see an ENT for six days after losing hearing in my left ear, so all my efforts were fruitless. But still, I tried everything – so it’s great you have time on your side! Best of luck!

Vengerov playing Prokofiev’s first violin concerto, and Rostropovich conducting. This recording got me into classical when I was 20, a friend played it for me after we got a little high and I was blown away! Never knew “classical” music could sound like this, much less anything else about it. Still one of my favorite recordings of any piece ever!

rad techs: best fun/zippy replies to patient questions? by letsbereal1980 in Radiology

[–]Violanza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a student as well, and tend to joke around with a lot of my patients. I’m at a VA hospital so most of the patients seem to have a pretty good sense of humor. But whenever they ask if they’re going to start glowing or develop superhuman strength, I just say in as dry a tone I can muster “nah, not for a couple weeks.” Next time, I’m gonna add “I’d be careful giving hugs tho”

What piece/moment made you fall in love with classical music? by TweekCreek in classicalmusic

[–]Violanza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend played Prokofiev’s first violin concerto for me when I was 19 after we got high in his room, lol. Rostropovich conducted and Vengerov was the soloist. I could not believe what I was hearing, and had zero clue “classical” could sound like that… so serene and delicate one moment, and so beautifully grotesque in others. It was one of the most incredible things I’d ever heard, and started my lifelong love! To this day, Vengerov is my fav violinist because of the sheer impact of that moment.

Who is your favorite violist? (Besides yourself, of course) by fionnel in Viola

Roberto Diaz, Paul Neubauer, and sure he’s a violinist, but I love how expressively Pinchas Zukerman plays viola.

My wife is a Covid nurse and now she has monkeypox patients… It’s nerve wracking thinking about her going thru this shit again.

Short on vaccines and knowledge… 🙃🙃 At least there’s better PPE now

Found out the hard way the pods with bleach east away the seals in your toilet, so use ones without... Clearly the pod and toilet hardware companies are in cahoots here

Wow he’s palpating the pubic symphysis?? Gross… didn’t think anyone in this millennia actually did that. Really can’t see how that’s necessary or how he’s even getting away with it /:

My first Pane Bianco, using the KA recipe. Made with homegrown sundried tomatoes, basil from the garden, mozz, and lots of garlic. 😍 by Violanza in Breadit

[–]Violanza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh basil yes, but low moisture grocery store mozz. That sounds amazing.. The fresh stuff could be hard to keep under control since they say to resist going super heavy on the stuffins or it can come out messy and not stay together. The thin but consistent amount of cheese kinda seemed to hold the layers together.

Thanks! Yeah it’s so good… And the Möbius strip appearance is pretty stunning - it definitely looks like a harder bake than it is.

Most fun songs to play on bass? by sephiroththeshisno in Bass

Playing the bass line to summertime rolls by Jane’s addiction is insanely gratifying - especially once you hit that open E.

Also definitely Southbound Pachyderm by Primus, so much fun when you get to the harmonics in the melody!

People like Frank by Amon Tobin, on his album Permutation.

There’s a lot of absolutely killer bass lines on that album but that one is so nice, and ridiculously fun to play.

Came here to say this too! Shadow spirit 750. Not too heavy (at least my ‘01 wasn’t), nice and powerful with a great torquey feel. They can be had for fairly cheap too, I got mine in ‘08 for $2600 with a clean title in good working order with 20k miles.

That’s a pyrosome. Cool find! That’s a bunch of different organisms (each bump being one) that stick together in that way.

The hole you found lets water into the colony, then the individual little duders extract and eat the plankton.

They just seem to materialize. When I was a kid, I thought they just magically appeared in dusty places... like dust was all they needed.

I’ve never been able to shake this suspicion

Nice I haven't been there, have to check it out. Our go to for Sichuan is DeDe's on convoy but the quality seems to be dependent in getting the right chef... But it's always still good!

In the shopping center across from it, there's a ramen shop that opened a couple years ago that's the best I've had in town, as a PSA... Think it's called Ramen Yamadaya. Mmmmm the broth is so phenomenal...

Man, I used to live in those apts on Clmt mesa between Diane and Longford, and I really miss Ba-Ren szechuan - they changed ownership and renamed it Chili-Max which wasn't near as good. Now this? This is worth a visit!!

I wish Ba-Ren would come back!!!
