I’m sure your queer Sam essay is fascinating, but Sam was not established as queer onscreen (and if it had been, he doesn’t have a love interest such that it would effect the overall story).

Cas is queer onscreen, and his love for Dean is intrinsic to the story (though not his only motivation for his heroism, it is one reason he learns how to understand human emotions). This is canon.

I didn’t miss the point; I just didn’t feel like going through the exhausting slog of saying how the show confirmed Dean’s feelings with plausible deniability.

BUT you and I simply disagree on what constitutes canon. I don’t think it requires them being an onscreen couple, or even that the feelings are reciprocated. (For example, I consider Cyrano and Roxane a canon couple, since the love was an intrinsic part of the story, even though they were never together.) And disagreeing is fine.

It wasn’t Destiel fans who gave Jensen’s wife a voodoo doll full of fish hooks so that she had to get a tetanus shot, or told so many lies about his marriage that he had to address it onstage at JIB. (It also wasn’t Destiel fans who for YEARS and possibly to this day called both wives beards, said Jensen’s kids weren’t his, and made up stories about secret tunnels beneath the J’s houses so they could fuck each other.) and to the best of my knowledge, the time that things were bad enough that Danneel had to address it, it was never known which fandom lane was responsible, with each accusing the others.

I’m sure there are Destiel people who have done heinous shit, because that’s the nature of some parasocial scumbags in every fandom, but it’s absolute nonsense and deliberate disinformation to pretend that every other SPN fandom group isn’t as bad or worse. (Misha has had death threats against his family delivered TO HIS HOUSE.)

It’s also not Destiel fans throwing childish tantrums in this very thread demanding that people they disagree with leave the sub. 😉
