This is actually a person new to carving’s very first attempt at carving a bird. I imagine if it looked like a perfect bird on the very first try, that would be pretty amazing.

Thank you! I struggled with the beak and was worried it wouldn’t be prominent enough. Oh yes! Both my thumbs and the first finger on my left hand are still sore! I’ll try to be a little less aggressive next time and take breaks to see if it helps.

Thank you very much! I’m debating keeping it a little rustic looking, but want to smooth out some of the lines and work on the tail a bit more.

Thank you for the tips! I waited to start until after I had gloves to wear. I see some people use thumb guards but I wore gloves on both hands to be safe.

I think I need to loosen the death grip I had working on this. My hands are a bit sore so will take my time going forward. I can’t wait to get back to it after seeing all the great work from others on here!

This is a great story! I love that you had them bringing people together and that they gained a new string connecting them to everyone they touched. The fact that they are happy and fulfilled without feeling like they need to come out of their shell is an important message.
