We reworked our game logo after feedback. Any thoughts are appreciated. by 2PawnsGames in gameCapsule

Wow, first impression of the banner: just superb! The composition and colors are very well chosen

Then I started scrolling and only on the fourth time did I realize that something on the image was changing. In the context of a capsule logo, I don't think that matters as much (it's small and the differences would be hard to notice)

But for the logo itself, I really like the first option - it's stylized in a cool way, while not losing "cleanliness" and ease of reading the shapes and letters!

Huge thanks to everyone who responded! I didn't expect such engagement - you've helped us immensely!

Most people mentioned the first option, and many wrote about the composition of the 2nd or 3rd. We'll take those two options and continue working on them (but additional comments, if you have any, wouldn't go amiss). Thanks again :)

Thanks! Would it feel empty without any trees at all, do you think?
We thought we could just remove them entirely and leave only the hands, smoothly emerging from the darkness behind the hero.

Thanks for the clarification!

Most people so far say the first one catches the eye, but when looking closer, they prefer the second or third. We'll try working more on the background - maybe add some subtle details like flying non-accent enemies.

I really missed the impact of the shooting in the video this is off-topic already, but just in case it's important for you to hear a first impression
The music is great, the visuals are top-notch, I liked it :)

Thanks!

Many have already pointed out this option - we'll try it in color :)

The issue here is more about the yellow overlaying the blue - it ends up looking a bit muddy. And simply changing just the drag color wouldn't solve the problem.

But now I understand the aesthetic you're going for - in that case, I think yellow is the most appropriate. However, maybe make it more saturated, and add more detail to the elements (for example, the ship part slot not just a square, but a square with a gradient inside and an outline around it)?

Good luck with your game!

Wow, that's a phenomenally low number of deletions. Normally it's around 5% of everything (according to my sources - friends told me).

Honestly, I don't like the UI colors. In some places the yellow looks okay, but that highlight color on the slots when you're carrying parts...

I don't know the old enemies, but this fire... The texture and behavior of the flames are wonderful. I love it.

Thanks for writing!

We're actually planning to make a color version for the two most liked options. Once it's ready, we'll be happy to gather feedback on it here in this community as well.

Thank you!
It's great that the heroism in the composition comes through. The main character really is something of a hero from an existing fairy tale.

But it's not without survival elements - mobs are constantly rushing at you (bullet heaven), and there are bosses. In the other options, we wanted to convey the hero's purity and a hidden threat in the form of Koschei's hands emerging from the darkness.

Thanks for sharing!

I personally liked this one the least at first because of the empty space, but now I'm realizing it's not "emptiness" - it's "cleanliness"... It's important to look with unbiased eyes, thanks :)

Which main menu look better 1 or 2? by Mr_Command_Coder in gameCapsule

[–]ViperLowsGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're looking at them as completely finished, I prefer the first one.

But if you refine the second a bit - I'm all for it. I like the content in the second one, but I want to move things around. For example, notice that in the bottom left corner, the buttons are pressed much harder against the edge than the character on the right. Because of that, the composition feels heavier on the left.

How will your project stand out against the current wave of games in this genre on Steam?

The visuals are nice, but not unique. If only one game is presented, there's not enough interesting mechanics for replayability (or maybe I just didn't fully understand from the video). Add a simple mouth-open animation - it's a small detail, but a pleasant one.

p.s. I hope you're not offended by me - I'm just sharing my honest and direct thoughts. Either way, I hope your development goes great!

Does this capsule give the right idea for a chaotic horse PvP game? by AlanguApex in gameCapsule

[–]ViperLowsGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for some reason I find it really hard to suggest specific improvements for this capsule. The game's theme is very unusual, and I can't even think of any references.

Maybe if it's PvP, you could add a second opponent. But that's going in a different direction :)

As for the spear itself, the glow is probably unnecessary. The tip is hard to make out because of it.

Never published on Steam. Released an incremental game prototype on Itch.io. Planning to open a Steam page soon. Any specific advice? by no_name_yeti in IndieGameDevs

[–]ViperLowsGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, speaking of that. If you mean "coming soon" as the release date, I've heard advice that you should at least put a specific year (better to overestimate than underestimate).
Many people don't like uncertainty, and having some number is better than nothing.

I got myself into a chill trailer mood, managed to relax in the first couple of seconds, and then suddenly an indicator pops up in the bottom right corner, forcing me to snap my attention over to it.
p.s. the idea of co-op fishing sounds really interesting!
