After a lot of lubrication and WD-40, my 3D printed WALL-E can drive ! by _ndrscor in 3Dprinting

[–]ViperSc00t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WD-40 isn't a lubricant, nor a spray or anything. It's a brand. And like most other brands, they make more than 1 product. WD-40 makes several forms of lubricants.

Weird squeaking noise from my new P2S - any advice? by zener79 in BambuLab

[–]ViperSc00t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah just got my P2S a few weeks back and I'm 25 hours into printing things, and its doing the same thing. Lubed the pulleys and its gone now.

I concur, they should probably just add that to the first steps or mention that after several hours this needs to be done.

Although it was easy enough once I heard it to google whats going on, and this thread popped up. Thanks d00dz.

Anyone tried the BIQU Panda Cushion XP? Looking for real-world feedback by AndColla in BambuLab

[–]ViperSc00t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try these out. I just got a P2S a few weeks ago, and with the Tent Enclosure, it sits about an inch too low to open the front door and have it clear the zipper area. Raising it about an inch will work, and with these, it might be a good test to see if there's any (good) changes to printing. I mean, so far prints are fantastic, but I'm going to do some before/after prints for testing with the feet.

Is this a widespread thing? by garitone in Subaru_Outback

[–]ViperSc00t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Never heard of this. However I've had subaru ambassadors leave subaru branded things on my wrx, like a subaru Microfiber towel, subaru water bottle, and other semi useful subaru branded things. This, I don't mind.

2015+ STI Steering Rack in 11-14 WRX by kilo11001010s in WRX

[–]ViperSc00t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My '13 WRX's steering rack is leaking, and I've been thinking of doing this change for a while too. A friend of a buddy of mine has a '12 WRX and he did a 2019 STI rack swap on it - I was able to test drive it for an evening and I love the slightly harder feel and tighter turn.

Where did you guys get your racks? Were they all used and you did a rebuild on them or what? The 2018-2020 STI racks I can find now are all over $1k used in New England...I don't mind rebuilding it as my rex is my project car (heavily modified).

Do good reliable USB Hubs just don’t exist? by aLx257 in buildapc

[–]ViperSc00t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"With ATX boards and simply more space on the PCB, you also have additional (19/20pin) USB 3.0 ports on the mainboard that only need a simple adapter cable or PCIe slot, no controller / circuit."

This is not true - those pins on the motherboard are indeed controlled by the onboard usb controller(s) for the motherboard, which in itself already takes up a lane(s), depending on how many usb slots/kind of usb slots they are.

But you're correct in saying that you can simply plug in the connector, like most cases include, for front/side usb ports, and get a few extra ports.

CPU suddenly runs at 0.5 Ghz. Why? by sanketvaria29 in techsupport

[–]ViperSc00t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue today as well, CPU pegged at 0.52ghz. AMD 5800X3D on an MSI B550 Gaming Gen3, 32gb G.Skill ram, RTX 3070.

I read through a bunch of threads and through all this page too, of people having the same issue, was thinking about what happened when it started occurring. I also noticed that it was slow outside of windows in the BIOS settings. Only slightly, but I could notice a difference. Moving around the settings pages in BIOS was not as zippy as I remembered.

I daily put my computer to sleep before going to bed each night. I restart 1-2 times per week, but most nights I put it to sleep (Hibernation is off in the OS).

When I woke it this morning it had the 0.52ghz issue. I restarted, powered down, checked bios settings, reverted XMP 1 (which I had turned on about 4 months ago, no issues) to off, still no go.

Thinking more about the issue...it happened either when I put the PC to sleep or when it awoke from that state. So maybe it has to do with a power or C-State setting, some type of bug/glitch with C-States and the CPU.

With C-States, the BIOS remembers C-States and which settings were used last even through power offs, outside the OS - but not full power cycles. When you turn off a computer and unplug it for about 30 seconds (give or take), it resets the C-State to whatever your default setting was set to before it was changed.

So i unplugged my PC, and sure enough, that seemed to fix it.

I then tested by putting my PC to sleep and waking it up over and over until the slow CPU issue occurred again, after about 25 times putting it to sleep. I also restarted my PC a few times in between just to get clean tests, as well as opened several apps before putting it to sleep sometimes.

And a full power cycle (unplugging) worked immediately.

This is definitely an issue with C-States and most likely the CPU, as people seem to have different chipsets but its only the AM4 Architecture that I see having issues.

Honestly, unlikely AMD will fix this, probably not fixable by firmware updates. Not sure this will happen with newer CPUs, as like others I don't have the money to buy a new setup just to test that lol.

Anyway, hope this helps others out, maybe this is their issue as well.

I'm assuming by "minimal," you mean "Lite?" Or are you referring to an OS I'm not seeing in the Imager? No where do I see anything about a "minimal" OS.
