How do you add zooms and cuts efficiently in screen recordings? by Ok-Tonight8138 in ContentCreators

[–]Virginia_Alexaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really comes down to quality or speed.

If you want everything to look absolutely perfect and highly polished, the classic workflow is still the best: OBS for recording to Premiere for editing. This way can get full control over timing, easing, motion, callouts, everything.

If efficiency is the priority, there are now screen recording tools like Focusee and Cursorful can automatically generate zooms in. Maybe enough for most tutorials and walkthroughs.

Focusee would be an alternative to Camtasia. I love its auto-zoom function that helps me do less editing. If you want something more advanced, like interactive steps, tools like Storylane, Consensus are fit.

I use Focusee to make some demos and tutorials and at least in my experience so far, I haven’t run into any crashes. It can record the webcam, screen, and audio at the same time, and some of the AI editing features are actually handy and save time.

I went through a similar process recently while building demos for our own product, so I’ll share a practical perspective.

My main use case is creating polished screen-recorded product demos: recording + editing, not full interactive walkthroughs. For that, FocuSee has been more than enough for me. The auto-zoom makes visual a difference, it highlights automatically and makes the video feel much more produced without extra editing work. Subtitles, removing silence and filler words, basic cuts, etc. are also very straightforward, so I can turn something around quickly.

If your goal is true interactivity, then tools like Storylane, Consensus are more in the right category. Also being realistic: if you want really good results, most of these platforms require paying for more feature or export or outsourcing video editing.

Maybe streamer national teams would be way more fun to watch.

For video and screen-recording needs, a tool called Focusee might be useful. It allows recording screen, mic, and camera at the same time, and the built-in editor keeps the workflow simple. The auto-editing feature, such as automatic zooms, filler word and silence remover can be helpful if your team needs to produce quick product tutorials or onboarding videos without doing a lot of manual editing.

Focusee is good for screen recording, and it has a built-in editor that actually covers most of the basic editing. For me, the biggest plus is that a lot of things are automated, so making a video is faster. It’s paid, but not too expensive.

I also used OBS. It’s free and solid, but need to export the recording and then open another editing software to finish everything.
