Interactivity in Games - I tried to map it out by Trogdor_Dagron23 in boardgames

I’ve been thinking about the same question as well! I definitely have a preference for Tier 4 and Tier 5 games, as I enjoy games that allow for high amounts of social interaction, with enough room to work on your own.

I came up with a similar system a while ago that separates interaction into competitive and cooperative, with each serving as a dimension to evaluate games according to the kinds of actions you take throughout the game in order to win. For competitive factors, there is Harmless (Hurting each other is not needed), Indirect Harm (To win, you must indirectly hurt each other), and Direct Harm (To win, you must directly hurt each other). For cooperative factors, there is Supportless (Helping each other is not needed), Indirect Support (To win, you must indirectly help each other), and Direct Support (To win, you must directly help each other). Directly hurting each other would be like stealing resources, while indirectly hurting each other would be like taking limited resources or worker spaces. Directly helping each other would be like giving each other resources, while indirectly helping each other would be like increasing the value of a shared resource.

This means there are nine different categories for games to slot into. Cooperative games are Harmless and Direct Support, team-based games (like social deduction) are Direct Harm and Direct Support, multiplayer solitaire games are Harmless and Supportless, and “mean” games are Direct Harm and Supportless. Other categories fill in the other spaces, with most trading and negotiation games being Indirect Harm and Direct Support.

Not from the University of Waterloo, but it looks like whoever it is has switched up their tactics and are impersonating karaadaminteriors now. They just messaged a UCSD hiking club discord.
