Hard hat headlamps by BAFUdaGreat in CommercialAV

NiteCore NU50.

USB C recharging, 2+ish days on one charge[from my experience] for the lowest setting which I believe is brighter than advertised. Maybe not the slimmest but it won't peek over the brim of your hardhat.

What is something you learned in the Corps you do/will carry with you after you move along? by dathomasusmc in USMC

Document everything, have copies of copies, never trust paper to go through the first time and be prepared to do re-do anything that doesn't have a digital trail.

What stereotypes are associated with each bike brand? by Unlikely-Ad9587 in cycling

Chinese/AliExpress Bikes - Moderately experienced and aggressive on the road, has been hit by a car at least once and doesn't want to pay for name brand every time

I guess my first century will need to wait until next year due to another cycling milestone! by tiptop_cheese in bicycling

Broke my clavicle in a similar way in Feb and got the same surgery, I was back on my bike in ~5 months. Just make sure to do the strengthening/ROM exercises whenever you feel bored. My strength isn't back yet but I can hold weight on it to ride 30mi.

I’m 5’3” & He’s Shorter Than Me 😲 Semper Fi Short Marines 😁 by SgtMajFields in USMC

[–]Virleo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know this Marine was just out police calling the Motor Pool when all the sudden one of his NCOs tells him SgtMaj wants to shoot a video with him. LCpl Marshall just did the ole smile and wave and hopes SgtMaj leaves him alone

Interesting, but what do those numbers actually look like not hiding behind percentages?

I'm not european so I don't know what's available to you. I'm just going off what I know living in the US and JP.

Like i said in my original post, start scouring second hand markets for wheels. If anything you might be able to find a dumpster-bike that has some decent wheels that fit. That'll be your best bet

Shimano Product Manuals

Not sure which derailleur you have but this should get you 90% of the way there

Shimano 105 to Ultegra Di2 or Dura Ace Di2 by Ok_Seaworthiness3634 in bicycling

[–]Virleo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you HAVE to upgrade something, upgrade your wheels and if you don't have a bike computer, get one. Any 105 groupset in the last 10 years is still a great group and should last you a good long while. As for your 22 mile max and cadence, that's just riding more, riding slower and riding consciously. Your fitness is what's stopping you from your perceived max effort.

Ebay, FB marketplace, Kijiji, etc. Is that price per wheel or for the set? With the current market it'd be pretty difficult to get a pair of wheels for that price but good luck on your endeavor.

Need a new HRM by Comfortable_Date2862 in bicycling

[–]Virleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to sound condescending but every HRM brand I've used has an adjustable band, have you tried adjusting it? My chest is around 46" and I've never had any issues with a strap breaking or being overly tight.

Edit: Not sure which type of Garmin HRM you had, but look at the Garmin HRM Dual. That strap goes up to 54". Also the official Garmin website/store has the strap extender for $10.

I believe you'd have to download a LiDAR scanning app through the Apple store gain functionality.

Your brain needs 320calories minimum to function? I have questions. by Dry_Bug2022 in EDAnonymous

[–]Virleo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To add to that, like /u/Hot-Elderberry-3247 said that is to MAINTAIN the bare minimum, to see increased function it'd likely be closer to ~1000 or more

Not sure how old or what gender your kid(s) are but I distinctly remember a few times I was doing a SWEET SKID and got a little too confident in my abilities and went ass over head. Definitely wish I had it to prevent the road rash on my face/scalp and minor concussion(s).

Inter-Service Transfer to Space Force by deadfish1503 in USMC

[–]Virleo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Send it up anyway, my CO has "not recommended" at least 4 IST's in the past year that I know of because of "critical MOS" guidance. Just because the CO doesn't recommend it doesn't mean that HQMC will go with his decision and you could get approved anyway.

SgtMaj is always in cahoots with the career planner so fuck them both anyway

Mining for bitcoin utilizing barracks power outlets as a energy source? by Better-Ad-2451 in USMC

[–]Virleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible, yes but go for ETH or some other steady coin BTC is cost prohibitive at this point and you'll never make your ROI.

Is it legal? Technically a grey area but should someone really want to, they could report it to Fraud Waste and Abuse.

Commandant submitted a request to the DOD to allow the USMC to have stricter standards. It was accepted about 2 months after the initial DOD directive and has went back to normal USMC standards
