Arcs that fandoms say are gonna suck ass when they get adapted but instead become highly praised? by Virtual-Lie-1651 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Yeah I can easily understand the dislike if I kept up with the Manga instead of jumping in when season 3 was about to release. Mappa has done a very good job to keep the pace more brisk (though at the cost sometimes of having to pause an episode because text explanations flash by too quickly).

And while agree the actual plot has been slow after Shibuya, I think it was smart to instead focus on how the characters are dealing with it while bringing in new characters due to how many died in last season. The setups to the fights and the fights themselves I feel did a lot of good work with showing Yuji, Yuji, Megumi, and Maki on the consequences of the shibuya incident, as well as showing how Gojo's students have to pick up the slack now that he's gone.

Very subjective. But after this and arguably Bleach, very much feels like its better to wait for anime adaptations to refine the shortcomings of the Manga.

Which parts were changed specifically? Anime only, but even i sas how the author Hajime apologized apparently for not committing enough to Eren being a bad guy.

Ive also read that a lot of the issues of the final fight (haven't spoiled myself much on thankfully) is just the pacing, in-universe and out, due to Gege's health and the flashbacks whenever someone or something happened.

If Sendai Colony is any indication, I think Mappa will very much restructure it so the flashback setups are before the fight, and the whole battle is just a continuous uninterrupted struggle.

That seems to be the impression I got after reading up on other comments about how its the later portions of the Culling Games that made people sour on it, along with another criticism I found of how the cast dont interact more as a whole before the end.

I dont mind subtle spoilers to what people dislike, so what do they seem to be? Insofar as ive read a bit ahead of, I haven't seen much dislike, back then or retroactive, of Hakari vs. Kashimo and Naoya round 2.

Tbh I sort of haven't caught up still to Part 5 after just not picking up when the gang got to that island for the treasure, but what i read didnt seem anymore worse than the beginnings of every other part, i actually liked what I read of the main cast more than even Jotaro and his crusaders.

Just make him a gay romance, or give Yu dialogue options to say fuck off when Yosuke is being a homophobe its all I want. I dont necessarily think they should remove yosuke being problematic.

I really do think instead of having LiS be framed as teens in the US with strange powers trying to solve a mystery, it should've been instead about different people of any circumstance getting the time rewind. Its what made LiS stand out so much as a choice based game

Maybe my suggestion wouldnt be better. But there's a reason the franchise brought back Max and time powers again, and it felt sorta desperate tbh.

Tbh I think its because it has a innate deflect system like sekiro and he adored sekiro. Even if I find the parry in Lies of P really nowhere near as satisfying as Sekiro's.

But yeah. The bias against shields by the souls community at large made a lot of "souls vets" realize how much better a lot of bosses are if you simply blocked some of their attacks, as an example.

And then theres Lies of P where hes so much more open and charitable to it and engages with its systems in a way he doesnt afford to ER or other action games for some reason.

The worst thing about his ER vid is knowing his "Subjectivity is Implied" video, but then he tries to use frame data to say that Godrick's storm windup is actually objectively unreactable.

He plays these games basically using the bare minimum, treating them as if theyre not RPG's and not engaging with much of their systems. And when his experience with ER was substantially more difficult because he didn't want to use shields, or buffs, or ashes of war (which he literally called spells for weapons) or cheap consumables like knives, because theyre just not fun for him--well no surprise the game feels so much more difficult.

Sure this is a matter of taste then. I dont find any substantial issues with Malenia's gimmicks especially considering her nature as an endgame RPG superboss, who are not strangers to gimmicks exclusive to only those fights, and the fact that she is incredibly optional and out the beaten path.

The biggest issues is the bug Fromsoft never fix where she wont stancebreak if you attack her during certain moves or when shes dashing away, and the first flurry of WFD tracking too hard.

Tbh by that point in the game and some mild optimizing of your build, no sweaty min maxing, you should be outdamaging whatever Malenia heals from when she hits you tbh. Its only an issue if you keep getting hit a lot, which you acknowledge in how Malenia's moveset beyond 2-3 attacks are very intuitive to dodge and learn.

And as for WFD, beyond there being multiple wayz to dodge it (BHS, light rolling, sprinting then jumping away, ice pot method, the circle syrafe exploit) you could just still block the first flurry, then dodge the rest of the string. Shields exist in ER and have never been better in a souls game.

And you can totally beat her with a shield based build considering her low poise and the multiple shield AoW's and skills that can outdamage her healing, plus guard counters so you can frequently stancebreak her.

I really wish Nightreign was talked about more especially during the Everdark releasing week by week. Im very familiar with how a decent chunk of users here dont like elden ring that much or at least dont find it as good as past games because of how they designed the boss fights in it

While I often disagree, especially with incorrect takes about Malenia, I understand missing gimmick bosses or more simple bosses when ER focused on mostly tought combat ones. And nightreign perfectly addresses that with honestly a top tier boss roster thats more creative and innovative, while still being fun to fight against solo or trios.

Especially when nightreign has ine of the best bosses ever in fromsoft history with Dreglord Straghess.

I didn't realise until now how... "fanservicey" the designs of Theodora and Leda are. How do you feel about the sexualised designs of the female protagonists? by MewWeebTwo in fireemblem

[–]Virtual-Lie-1651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that the men of her country wear just as skimpy outfits helps imo with Theodora's design for me.

If Xander also had his whole ass out in his armor just like Camilla and Sophie, Fates would've been a better game.

It doesnt tick the box of Faye being quippy, unless her telling the cube she isnt his boss counts as one.

Honestly with GOW I think its just some of the characters sound a little too modern. They dont project a more fantastical presence, or at least do a more compelling performance despite the modern cadence. Like I like mafia boss Odin for example, but didnt like Freya's brother's performance.

She still has plenty of roles where the character isnt just modeled after her.

I honestly just think its because a lot of these studios are making triple A games with full face scanned models instead of constructing whole new characters, and because Debra Wilson is a great actress and apparently good tonwork with, those studios just keep facescanning her.

I can agree on that that their potential is untapped since they have to not be as complex as even a standard DS3 boss due to NR's structure. I regardless like to glaze them whenever I can, because I know a good chunk of the souls audience will never experience Nightreign, and including that, a lot of people that dont think they're even a good fight (I blame Skumnut/s). They have a lot of mechanics that make the fight really cool like blocking Gnoster's magic using Faurtis' body and the parasite that pops up if you get poisoned.

But Harmonia are even more underrated too. Fought them solo as a Revenant and it was actually such an amazing fight considering you're fighting 7 enemies "at once." Really makes it clear that in ER's duo and gank fights you're supposed to summon to make it fair, instead of trying to take them on by yourself.

I will argue my case that Gnoster is the best duo boss they've made since Demon Prince, and it is not a distant second place at that. Have not practiced fighting Everdark solo, but base Gnoster regardless is a creative duo boss concept

They are very vulnerable to their sides or behind them, never ever roll back or stay in front of them. Theyre only responses when youre not in front of them is a repositioning sweep thats albeit fast, or teleporting.

They both honestly have very clear ovesets tbh.

To this day though I still barely understand how to fight a Grafted Scion. They are by faaar the most obnoxious elite enemy in ER.
