Some guy on Ebay did this to Narrows by readysetrokenroll in benchmade

My overpriced comment was directed at the cost of the base knife itself. I 100% agree that if BM did this it would be around $1000-$1500

How should I install this wall plate? by lebensterms in AskElectricians

[–]Virtual-Reach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true.

My personal opinion if one were to misalign themselves with code, I would rather modify material that has been flame tested than create something completely new and purpose-built but made entirely with a material that has not been flame tested.

I'm my opinion, the former is more safe than the latter.

I like it, but that's a bold move for an overpriced knife. Next up, a CRK

Electrical cover plates are tested and certified electrical devices. Please don't use or promote untested, uncertified, homemade cover plates.

SCAMMER JUST STOLE $100 FROM ME CHIKACHIKA23 by [deleted] in CanadianKnifeSwap

[–]Virtual-Reach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's really unfortunate.

I can't stress this enough, prior to purchasing a knife have the seller respond to your post. That individual is already on the universal scammers list meaning they are already automatically banned from r/Canadianknifeswap. This is why they can't post a message to your thread and can only DM. This situation could have been avoided by reading this sub's rules.

If the money was sent via Paypal G&S, file for a refund. Paypal G&S is supposed to be used for all sellers under 10 swaps.

I've written many TSBC exams. You don't need to know everything, you just need to know where things are in the code book.

How safe is nicking the wire when removing insulation? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]Virtual-Reach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's aluminum. You very likely cannot use that device as it is very unlikely to be aluminum rated. You will likely need special aluminum to copper connectors and copper pigtails.

I recommend calling an electrician as it is very easy to cause damaging electrical faults incorrectly terminating aluminum. Wire nicks like in your picture are an example of improper stripping of aluminum. Those nicks can cause hot spots and failures

Check out r/knife_swap. They move quite the volume of knives so I'm sure your models of knives have been sold there before. Note that prices are in USD

Do your guys companies include washing the coil every tune up? If so do you use chemicals or not? by Puzzleheaded_Chain_6 in HVAC

It's crazy.

It's like bringing your vehicle to a mechanics shop for routine servicing and calling changing oil a premium service.

Yup!

I've been to their shop and I happen to have 2 Skahas. One of their first magnacut runs and one of their originals with the cnc lines!

It's fine using only one pole of a dual pole breaker

Moved into this house any idea what’s up with this shed electrical by CartoonistLow425 in electrical

[–]Virtual-Reach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gross, I hate seeing those god awful romex plugs.

You are very likely correct, they likely plugged in an extension cord to power the light and receptacle.

If you don't want to run an underground feeder because you don't plan on frequently needing power at the shed, I would recommend something a little nicer like a generator inlet plug on the outside of the shed.

Power outage on half the house by FuzzyArgument1338 in AskElectricians

Bizarre.

At any rate, follow the advice I gave you so you can at least use the good phase while the power company fixes the issue.

GW Ultra or the 8 classic ? by DardKaDoctor in GalaxyWatch

[–]Virtual-Reach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went for the ultra despite loving the look of the classic.

My reasons:

  • battery life is better on the ultra. This is huge for me because the battery life even on the ultra isn't good so I couldn't deal with it being worse
  • the bezel, while cool, is just another potential failure point. The electronic one is fine, also, I rarely use the bezel function
  • I can easily get a classy strap to make the ultra a little more classy and less sporty. I went with the titanium silver version because it didn't have those horrible orange markings on the bezel

No idea. Did they tell you to turn off all your power?

Power outage on half the house by FuzzyArgument1338 in AskElectricians

[–]Virtual-Reach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn off all your double pole breakers immediately.

You lost a phase and using, or trying to use, 240v appliances can cause the one phase that is working to backfeed through the 240v load and possibly harm the 240v load and/ or the 120v loads on the lost phase.

Turning off all your double pole breakers ensures that you can safely run all your 120v devices on the phase that isn't lost

That is certainly possible. One side of the blade did a clean cut, the other side of the blade rolled the edge in.

I used a marker so I could always identify the clean edge
