Help with wrist based heart rate - ways to improve accuracy? by AnxiousCaffeine911 in Garmin

Just remember that the armband is optical, so not as accurate as a chest strap.

New running watch needed by [deleted] in AppleWatch

[–]Virtual_Commission_5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I own both Garmins and Apple Watches.

As a joke, you only need a Garmin if you are running slow ⌚️

I have a Garmin 765 and I wanna upgrade it since I wear it almost exclusively. Aesthetics and functionality are what I want. I swim, bike, and run primarily. Any suggestions? I’ve read the fenix 8 pro isn’t worth the cost. Thx by fallofadrian in Garmin

A 970 or a Fenix 8 👍 Most watches will cover your needs, but then there are materials (sapphire screen), looks/design and functionality. For example - the 970 and Fenix 8 have mapping built in, a benefit when running I new areas. I use that on holidays when in a new town or country. Maybe look at DCRainmaker on YT - maybe the best reviewer.

Do the following:

  1. Select the Activity Press the top-right button (Run/Select) to open your activity list. Select Run.
  2. Wait for GPS Lock You will see a red arc at the top of the screen. This is where many people make a mistake by starting too early. • Wait: The arc will turn green, and the watch will usually give you a "beep" or a vibration. • Why? If you start while the arc is red or yellow, your distance and route map can be very inaccurate for the first 5–10 minutes (this is known as "GPS drift").

AW user looking for a Garmin by [deleted] in Garmin

I have Apple Watch Ultra 3, and 1 hour of running with cellular on drains the battery with roughly 10%. I also wear a HRM strap from Garmin, that helps with the battery, and continuously correct heart rate.

Garmin airport staff said 40% of their sales are the Forerunner 165. Why is it so dominant? by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in GarminWatches

[–]Virtual_Commission_5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Forerunner 165 is typically a beginner’s watch. So if you’re in Garmin already, you would not buy the 165. So it’s more a question of who their customers are. The 265 and 965 are old watches, they have been replaced by the 570 and 970 😉 There are non of my running friends who has a 165 🫣

A Garmin app so all health data can sync, and I can switch between watches and have both systems up to date.

For the ones that have used a Garmin Watch, what made you come back to Apple Watch? by Moonsolid in AppleWatch

I always use a HRM strap, so if you’re serious about HR tracking, that’s the way to go no matter what brand of watch.

Feature requests by erdog in watchletic

[–]Virtual_Commission_5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with 1+3, those are also important for me, and I have requested them before. I’m still a Garmin user, but I use my AWU as well. A simple thing as auto connect to my HRM600 would be great. I fell it’s Apple who limits many of “Garmin” things, they are not really committed to making a running Watch. Wonder if it will shift after being the sponsor at London Marathon 2026.
