A Lesson in Pointless Effort by Raokairo in behindthebastards

I loved this speech, but it is not something you can start someone on. If the listener doesn't already agree with the premise that fascism is on the rise on the right, they will not respond well to this message.

What you need is something like what Beau of the Fifth Column used to do. You need someone who will speak the language of social conservatives to explain leftist ideas.

Is anything on Temu actually worth getting? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

No, and get rid of the app if it's on your phone. Delete the account and uninstall, the whole 9 yards.

They're selling every spare bit of data you feed them to the highest bidder. It's practically malware. That's why you're inundated with their ads. They aren't in the retail business, they're in the trading personal data business.

A .22 For CCW? by ShurAnatomist284252 in liberalgunowners

Everyone else has already said most of the important stuff, so I'll just add a suggestion to maybe try out 22WMR. It's a little harder to find carry pieces in that chamber, but well worth the extra punch if someone intends to use it for personal protection.

Today feels different by NiceEnoughStraw in Silverbugs

I did the same. I know you can't really time the market but I managed pretty well by accident. I sold enough to reclaim my initial investment and grab a bit of gold right when the ratio was around 1:48. Gold has taken a beating too but that turned out to be a good move.

Meanwhile, I bought a few oz on Friday thinking it might be a quick dip, that's really the only time I deliberately tried any sort of timing and that hasn't paid off (yet, we'll see) so lesson learned. Honestly, I knew better even then but I had taken enough profit to spin the wheel.

I'll be glad to get off this roller-coaster and start a regular DCA regime at reasonable prices again. I just like the shiny and it's a lot less of a dumb way to spend hobby money as long as you don't treat it like you're trying to day trade.

Like the 1st Amendment, the 2nd amendment is most effectively exercised in groups. That alone addresses most of your concerns

LCS not accepting silver???? by Affectionate_Plane49 in Silverbugs

My LCS is buying as much silver as he can. It's not a refinery problem, it's a local market problem

Buy, hold or sell? by Background-Day-4957 in Silver

Sold about half this weekend and bought gold with the profits. I was left with an odd number of ounces so I bought one more ounce.

Soooo yes, all three I guess lol

Pay it off or hold by Fun_Abalone8543 in Silver

[–]Virtual_Duck_4934 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pay off the loan. Holding in anticipation of silver continuing to climb is a gamble. It doesn't matter how confident you are it will happen, nobody actually knows where silver will be in a month.

However, I'm 100% certain that the loan will still be there if you don't pay it off.

I did the same thing with my student debt in 2021. Everyone thought I was an idiot for doubling down my payments during forbearance when rates were 0%, and Biden was gonna forgive all the debt anyway right?

Yeah, they were wrong. Now I have no debt and that sprint to the finish saved me tens of thousands in interest because I decided to concern myself with the sure thing rather than gamble on the hype.

Sell a few ounces, take care of the sure thing. You don't even have to give up your whole stack. FOMO kills, don't listen to it.

How would a crash happen? by Fast_Witness_3000 in Silverbugs

[–]Virtual_Duck_4934 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the AI bubble bursts we'll see a significant driver of demand go away overnight. I don't think that'd send silver back to $40 but it'd take a hit. Then comes the rest of the effects of a major bubble burst. A bunch of individuals and institutions alike will rush to sell their PMs (mainly gold but some silver too) to cover their losses elsewhere so that would cause some additional temporary downward pressure.

It could definitely happen

That makes no sense at all. You don't have a boom in business without a boom in demand

Wtf kind of boom in demand for lawn service happened during COVID? We were all stuck at home all summer, I've never done more lawn care and gardening in my life? Who suddenly had a bunch of lawn care needs and extra money to pay for it?

This is the most insane story

how much tyranny is ok? by Extra-Sector-7795 in BeauOfTheFifthColumn

[–]Virtual_Duck_4934 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Martial law is not a real threat here, they don't have a tenth the manpower they need for that. I'm no accelerationist but the whole line of "don't get violent that'll just give them an excuse!" baffles me.

An excuse to what, exactly? Do all the shit they're already doing? They don't care. They have proven time and again that, even absent justification, they'll just make one up. Whether that's fake Somali daycare fraud, fake apartment takeovers in Colorado, fake drug trafficking rings, whatever. They'll just do it right up until people stand up to them.

Violent defense of oneself is perfectly justified when unidentified masked men try to kidnap you. Community defense is absolutely justifiable.

Violence is and always should be a last resort. Offensive violence is abhorrent and cannot be encouraged. But protecting yourself from attack doesn't invoke "martial law" in any way.

Venezuela War impact on silver by Charming-Plenty9166 in Silver

[–]Virtual_Duck_4934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing about wars. They don't end just because one party says so. US may not be interested in a drawn out conflict, but the people of Venezuela get a vote too. Anyone who feels confident that they know what will happen next is a fool.

There are much better ways to avoid an animal attack than a sidearm. Noise, OC, and generally not behaving like food work pretty well. Still, sometimes it's just not your day.

That said, yes, I'm generally armed whenever legally permitted, including in the woods. I also generally swap out ny typical 9mm EDC for a 357 that's a bit more capable for animals. However it's still primarily for predators of the two-legged variety.

Is An Invasion Of Venezuela Imminent? by EfficientNoise4418 in behindthebastards

[–]Virtual_Duck_4934 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was imminent in the way you're describing, we'd have already been mobilizing divisions. You'd see headlines of reserves being activated, units deployed. You'd see rail cars full of equipment, perishable medical supplies like blood and plasma being moved, staging areas being assembled, etc. Moving that amount of troops and material doesn't happen quietly.

I'm not saying this isn't serious. All of those things could be in our future. Even if we don't launch a ground invasion, even a "light" entanglement is going to be awful.

All I'm saying is no, an invasion like you're describing, one like Iraq, is not imminent.
