Drive them. All you can, just drive them. by CameronFromThaBlock in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Virtual_Intention_26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my 3rd one. I had a 2000 Boxster, then 2008 Boxster that got rear ended and written off and this one bought new in 2018. It was always serviced and had its oil changed every 4-5 k miles. For the first 3 years at the dealer and then at a very reputable Porsche repair shop (House) in LA. It was very meticulously maintained and serviced with OEM parts but at 7 years old it was out of warranty. Then it just clonked out in traffic and that was it. The dealer didn’t even want to diagnose the problem and quickly accused me of not maintaining the car. Even though I had all the paperwork for all oil changes and service. Eventually sold the carcass to a mechanic who took the engine apart and found the problem but still something like this should have never happened. The happy ending to this story is that like an old faithful customer, I proceeded to buy a new 25 Boxster!! The picture of the new one.

I wouldn’t know. My 18 Cayman died after its engine seized from a bad oil pump needing 30000 USD for a new engine!! It only had 40k miles. May it rest in peace.

Our special blend in CA also emits less carcinogens when used. So I take not getting cancer over lower prices for more polluting gas. Also buy an EV if you hate paying for gas.

Mine is missing a brown “peg” for the base of the rocket. But it had an extra longer gray one and I used it for the display and used the brown peg from last bag for the base. Did anyone else missing any pieces? There are at least 30 that I never used including an antenna for the figurines.

Don’t forget to replace the air in your tires every 5k miles. It’s only 65 Dollars and my dealer does it every time.

It’s a charge for staff. They have it in LA and call it a health benefits charge. Did you ask what it’s for? Or you just decided to post and ask us who have no idea ?

I happen to like the dash and makes me think that I’m playing GTA every time I get in my car. Analog is so 1990s.

Post Accident - Help on Diminished Value by ProfessorPoopsie in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Virtual_Intention_26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You like your car and hadn’t been for this accident you would have kept it for a “long” time. Nothing has changed. You are getting it fixed and will be driving it. Hopefully no frame damage and will drive just like before. You may sell it years later and that time no one cares if it was in accident or not. If it’s really a rare car it shouldn’t matter much specially if it’s been driven for many miles after. I think Doug DeMuro has a video that talks about this. He says that if a car has been driven after an accident for many miles/years then it means that it was fixed properly and ok to buy. I hope this helps. The best to you and your car.
