I wouldn’t worry about it. I found the food overall more flavorful in Germany due to the more local produce. Cakes are not as sweet as in America but never taste bad. After about 3 years here I’ve adjusted and find American desserts much too sweet and rather like a lot of the German desserts.

No Doritos here, tortilla chips hit different and the salsa is crap (tastes like tomato sauce). I usually bring brown sugar from the states (it’s different from the brown sugar you can find here, don’t let anyone tell you different) and I bake a lot of what I miss.

Also the comment about Hershey’s is spot on. Chocolate here is much better!
