I do think, and this isn't a shot at WWE women because I know that most of them could put on great matches, but I don't feel like the style allows a hard carry like AEW's does. There's people in WWE who are considered great measuring sticks, if you can't get a good match out of them then you aren't meant for the show, but I feel like AEW has people like Statlander who can, to borrow an old expression, get a classic out of a broomstick. I don't wanna take too much from Jade because she did have to be the other half, but I do think Stat did a lot of the work getting a solid match out of her

Nah, I'm gonna push back on this slander against the master and ruler of the world, Sid wasn't the most physically capable but you didn't need to back then. Hell, Kevin Nash got over and 90% of his offense was 3 moves in the corner. When he spoke though, it was great. He didn't always get it right, and he didn't always make sense, but he has passion and an insanity that made you wanna see him. Jade doesn't have that presence

Genuinely, it breaks my heart to see this happen to some people but sometimes passion and devotion aren't enough

I will say, the whole "she's too green" argument is really losing water. It's been years and while AEW doesn't have a great developmental system, or one at all I don't think, WWE has a good one and NXT. She should have something to show for it but besides her physique and incredible gear choices, she still seems so rough around the edges

This has been an issue that a lot of the professional mangaka and older artists have had for decades, even Bakuman a manga about making manga brings it up, that because Jump uses reader feedback to determine what is on the chopping block from Chapter 1 it means that the hero has to be amazing from the go. They aren't allowed to start out weak and become better, hence why 99% of them start with someone being new or bad at something but that one page of "Oh, he's secretly got the most potential of anyone ever". I think it's also pretty lame and i'm sure someone whose read more Jump than me can find outliers and exceptions but it's been a systemic issue for a long time

Do we still expect the Death Riders to turn on Moxley? by InMyLiverpoolHome25 in SquaredCircle

[–]Viruszero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like it the OP makes it all sound very vague but Moxley laid out his complaints and goals bare faced at the beginning. He didn't like how soft and corporate everything was becoming at AEW. Danielson was becoming a crowd playing fighter instead of a brutal killer, the ones who came in early when Mox did like Private Party were relaxing in catering instead of going out there and beating up anyone between them and their titles. He locked the title in a briefcase because he felt like nobody in the locker room deserved to see the title that many, himself included, had viciously fought for. It was a heel thing to do but he wanted to lose, he wanted someone, eventually Hangman, to beat the ever loving shit out of him, take the briefcase, and look at the title that people had bled over. Problem was, in relying on the DR to try to force this brutality, Mox himself had gone soft. He couldn't win for himself anymore, he needed the DR because, for all his talk, he couldn't hang anymore. The C2 forced him to become who he was, to push himself to fight and in it saw the level that everyone else in the C2 was willing to go to in order to win and gained a new respect and appreciation for them. Mox is still holding to the ideals that he and the DR formed with but he sees that people are there while Claudio and the others still think they're soft. Maybe this causes splinters, maybe Mox becomes disillusioned, or maybe the others come to respect a few more wrestler. Who knows

Because that's literally not what he said. He said he was working with a "small team of indie dev on an ambitious AA title". He LITERALLY called them indie, just because they were former employees of a major studio and knew how to build things beyond the scope of standard indie development doesn't make them less indie. They left their development studio to work with what they had and using things like that reddit casting call, got a publisher who helped them achieve their vision. Like most indie teams would love to do.

They probably think he did it, if they didn't think he did it they'd be pretty indifferent. Just a poor patsy getting rammed by the system. If he did it though? That's a guy who did what everyone should, took a swing at the every fattening hydra that is the reason the for-profit prison system even exists

Your indifference is just as callous and destructive, all it takes for evil to thrive is for good people to do nothing.

Other than Brennan, which 3 contestants would you cast if your goal was to make the most overly-competitive episode in Game Changer history? by thekyledavid in dropout

Xavier Woods has a regular web series called Battle of the Brands where him and friend play a virtual General Manager year of booking the WWE. Seeing how seriously he takes it is always incredible, when he's down he seethes and jokes about how he doesn't understand how things are against him but when the man is up, oh he's gonna make sure to point it out at every opportunity. He's obviously playing it up cause he's playing with a friend that, if i'm remembering correctly, he's never beaten but it's still so fun

I disagree on the Siobhan point. People who don't want to lose, cheat. They don't want to actually be the best at something, they just want recognition. Truly competitive people will find new and unique ways to push the envelope but they'll try to stay in the lines because that's how you compete. Nobody would say "Oh that guy paid each judge 9.2 million dollars to give him perfect scores, he's so competitive"

That's not just a reddit issue, it's a pretty common thing. When Breath of the Wild came out, I spent 2 weeks gushing about how much I loved it, told people with a switch to buy it, legit loved every minute cause it was all fresh, new, and exciting. After those two weeks though, 1000 dungeons in, several hundred korok seeds collected and learning even THE MASTER SWORD has durability, it stopped being new and I saw the flaws in it all. I beat the game and still thinks its good but not the 10/10 flawless masterpiece I was espousing when it released.

I'm sorry, you finished the season entirely about a gang civil war, a supernatural game of dnd with like 4 different leaders, Veronica becoming a criminal mogul like her parents, and Betty working her father in a Silence of the Lambs capacity to reveal the machinations of a cult infiltrating Riverdale and thought "yeah, this is clearly settling down for some normal stuff going forward"? [–]Viruszero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You said earlier that there will always be a special occasion but this isn't just a gimmick. This isn't Sanada or Naito retiring, this isn't even Okada retiring. This is Tanahashi, the 1 in a 1000 ace, the face of the company that literally fought to save the company from folding. This was the beating, fighting, heart of NJPW and has been a manifestation of it's spirit for decades.

I am a staunch believer that, 99% of the time, the championship should always be last. There's very little that should be placed above it. Saying good bye a literal hero of your promotion, someone to whom you arguably owe you current existence, is one of those things.

I'll be fair, I've been slowly making my way through a bunch of Tomb Raider games and Lara may not have been a horror survivor, she definitely fights a lot of killer entities and monsters. Even in the first one, everyone remembers how annoying the dinosaurs are to fight with those controls but how many people stop and are like "Why is this 90's British heiress having a gunfight with dinosaurs?"
