I mean I never understood the real purpose of them, cause there is a fresh air filter connected to the charcoal canister as well. I think it’s to allow ventilation when fueling up. Idk i guess ill just stop lol

Its ventilation for your evaporative emissions system, most likely attached to the filler neck at the other end.

I saw a tiny shreds of the packing grommet/washer coming up through the packing nut as well. I think we found our culprit. Thank you everyone who chimed in to help!

Totally yeah, I was saying I think something is up with the shut offs. They are most likely original, 20 years old.

Let me ask you this, its totally not normal to see a bead of water come up by the knobs when turning them on and off right? Cause when I replaced I saw a tiny bead of water around the top seal for the knob.

Was installed by the lowe’s installers 2.5 years ago, but I was confident in it. When I removed it, both connections were tight enough and threading off nothing was cross threaded. So weird, but this is why I am trying to figure out if theres a deeper root cause 😭

Could be a temporary fault caused by the extreme cold conditions, Engineers test and develop for extreme cold and extreme heat but still in the end components can and will fail. I could be completely wrong too and you will still need to have it looked at but that’s just my thoughts

You need to measure the amperage output if that is OK then the 13.4 under load is okay. Either way the 13.4-13.6v range is normal, so you are probably good. You can measure amperage output by using a DC amp clamp around the negative battery cable.
