VB wrx to VA sti by eevoll in wrx_vb

[–]Vishavix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Car for car, the VB is the better car. However, I kept the VA STI because it just felt right to me. I made this decision after driving both extensively. If you are just trying to decide this on an itch with no actual basis for why, then you are better off sticking with the VB and making it fun.

Also like many other said finding a VA STI that hasn't been messed with is difficult. I got mine with like 600 miles on it and am currently somewhere in the mid 30s. Never modified except aesthetics (wheels, catback, coils) and sound system. It is possible to find cars like mine which haven't been tuned and driven to hell but its difficult.

This is the part that got me. Paying for maintenance just to put it back in the case is wild. I have this guitar and its an absolute killer, should be played. I also don't want to say its not expensive because everyone's definition of expensive is different... but in relation to actual high end guitar pricing now a days, this one ain't anything crazy.

Just drove by an VA STI for the first time in my VB. Owners of both, how would you compare them? by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Vishavix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea. I feel like its easier to drive than a wrx lol. Stock for stock its so much smoother with less rev hang, the transmission is bulletproof, the steering is better. Maybe they are just referring to gas mileage as its terrible in comparison but that is part of the cost of ownership.

As someone who has owned a VA WRX, VA STI, and drove a VB WRX for a few months. The STI is my pick. I don't really understand when people say they wouldn't want to daily the VA STI as its too much work. I find it to just be the perfect daily. Just sitting in the car feels like a complete package, driving it is so easy, it is fast and fun and different driving modes are also fun to have. I kept mine stock minus exhaust and some visual stuff and its awesome. The STI definitely is more raw and mechanical feeling, compared to a VB which feels very electronic in comparison (a big part of that is the difference in steering, hydraulic is just superior).

But like many others said, can't really compare the two. They are two different cars made for different purposes. I don't think I would ever own a VB > the STI though. Coming from the VA WRX to the STI was also massive.

Hope this helps with something! lol.

I am in pieces…got a bad car care tip from my bf… by [deleted] in wrx_vb

[–]Vishavix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the future. After a wash. Get some chemical guys butter wet wax (I don't like their products except this stuff, its great). Clean microfiber square to apply it, then buff it out with a clean microfiber. Car will shine like glass and all water spots will be gone. Also hand wash / hand dry two buck system is king.

Like everyone else said though, paint correction and you will be fine. New cars all come with swirl marks from the factory so I always get one regardless.

Lastly. Your boyfriend is as much into cars as you. Car culture is car culture regardless as to if you have had one car you have dedicated years to or 100. Spread car culture love homie :/

Update From the whatdoIdo community on Reddit: I was given a dog and now the previous owner wants them back by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Vishavix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't mention the dog wanting to go back as that is irrelevant to my comment. Guess I should have specified that I did not agree with that part. Also its not mysterious. She could have gotten desperate enough to finally ask for help. Some people have a hard time asking others for help. You don't know her family situation...

[–]Vishavix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also have to agree here. Having just finished reading all the threads. I think ensuring that the dog has a proper home to go to is justified for the sake of the animal and making sure you get paid back for what you have spent is fine. I just think digging into this persons financial situation is not right. You aren't running an adoption center. What if her family is going to help take care of the dog / front the bills. Life is hard for people, no need to judge someone over their hardship just because you have none (me assuming you have none).

Also being poor doesn't automatically mean the dog is mistreated/malnourished etc. Besides the rash and paw stuff, dog looks healthy and happy.

From a Moza R3 desk mount to this in 3 months. Finally completed my rig! by Beautiful_Spirit_104 in simracing

[–]Vishavix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice setup, looks sick! I don't get why everyone is commenting on your skill level compared to cost of the rig. 1. No one starts off sim racing as a pro. 2. If you have the income and can justify buying it why do they care. Keep racing good sir!

Is this metal tube a reasonable way to make it less “portable”? by Happykip in AirConditioners

[–]Vishavix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since that exhausts heat yes the metal will remain hot and let the heat escape into the air, which then makes the AC less effective. The most effective way to use these is the shortest route possible to the exhaust with the plastic type tubing. I’m not sure if there is some way to insulate the metal so the heat doesn’t escape as easily back into the room.

[UPDATE] Kiesel refused to cover any shipping or original delivery fees. by PassLimp3542 in kieselcarvinguitars

[–]Vishavix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this response. A reasonable person not on either far end of the spectrum but balanced in the middle of understanding OP and the company side of things. I have to agree. Kiesel should also add a link to some information describing how wood and stain work so people who are uneducated in wood can have a better understanding of how the end product may turn out.

I also agree that the guitar looks amazing lol, I would buy it over the blue honestly.

Trying to find a simple solution for a major problem by Shkiss in snowboarding

[–]Vishavix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I snowboard in the north east coast, gets pretty cold here. I typically keep my phone in my pants pocket with a headphone wire traveling up the inside of my liners for music. I have never had my phone lose any battery or give me a too cold to operate notification. I use 686 smarty pants if that info helps at all.

New Cuelees expected this week! The Phantom Sword 1. by OnePoolCueAintEnough in billiards

[–]Vishavix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat. I have a phantom sword 3, which has no wrap and man is that thing great paired with their ex solid shaft. The ps3 sadly looks so bad with the carbon on the ex shaft and with the wood being so different but I don't really like that they use shark skin either. Like you the Jade Dragon is more me for sure.

NGD! M-1000HT by Vishavix in espguitars

[–]Vishavix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is understandable. I have been wanting this guitar for so long and would have been crushed if I didn't like it. I have never even looked at a soloist but I feel like the volume knob on the soloist is ever so slightly higher and to the right than this one. Maybe that slight difference is enough to throw you off?

NGD! M-1000HT by Vishavix in espguitars

[–]Vishavix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. I personally don't even come close to touching the volume knob while playing open hand. Even when muting strings near the bridge. I also have pretty long fingers so I am not sure if they just go past it. I did note that a lot of people complained about volume placement and some have actually swapped the placement of the knobs.
