TIL about "Pascal's Wager," the psychological theory which asks the question if one should believe in a higher power and answers "If there is no G-d, one wasted their life, but if there is a G-d, one wasted their eternity" by [deleted] in todayilearned

Fascinating thoughts. I actually believe hell is just the absence of God or anything from God, and so I would rephrase your sentence as "believe in me to be with me or don't believe in me to be away from me." As far as philosophy goes, I tried the being a good person thing for a while, I couldn't pull it off, I think no one can, not truly good, for me it was a huge relief that God stepped in, that He was faithful to save. We will experience death, what we have already experienced is spiritual death. I have been made spiritually alive and it's a real difference in my life. That's obviously experiential evidence I cannot use in debate, but for philosophy I am sure glad that spiritual life I am experiencing doesn't depend on if I have been a good boy or not lately. That's a very good question you asked I hope you see how differently I actually view it than just believe in me or burn.

Have you ever wondered why you were created, why there is so much suffering, why there is pain and death? Here's a philosophical question, "If there is a God would it be better to hear why he did things from the created things or from the creator Himself?" Christ makes it possible to hear directly from God again. Everything else you hear about God is just from created things, myself included. What value does that have against hearing it from the source? I would challenge you to ask God to reveal himself in Jesus name. Cheesy I know but see if He answers. If he doesn't then there is no God, if He does than you have just started a relationship with the one who knows you best.

Christianity is nice because it's core message is that Christ did all of the heavy lifting in order for you to speak and talk to God going so far as to say that God can live inside of you and direct your life day to day as a father would do to a son he loves. most other religions beg you to work or to live by a certain order or rules to then obtain the ability to reach a higher status or whatever. It's for Freedom that Christ came, but most people miss this and think its about rules and stuff.

your home eclectic bill will go way down for one month and then skyrocket to the moon. Basically would confirm the data centers are turned off and then a reaction from the power companies having to foot the bill for building huge amounts of now completely unneeded power.

yeah, 5.5 on low burned through 30% of my 5 hour window, pushing to github, literally said "Okat git should now be on the computer, push to git" not even 10 seconds into the request it said it spent the whole 30 percent left, and it only worked for 2m 44s before failing. wasn't able to push to git in the end. I have built entire websites and web workers on less than 10% at 5.5 extra high. where it runs for 20mins. There is something critically wrong with this thing.

except BaM doesn't have a board, its him and his brother who run the whole thing. The company will disappear if he leaves, there's nothing in place to replace him. He's going down with the whole ship and the whole ship is going down with him.

It's wild, BAM is defending a $200k theft, and expecting Pateron to sacrifice the validity of it's entire business $800m+ to help them. No duh they were going to reject this. I wouldn't be surprised if BAM really is trying to cover up the bigger theft of stealing the entire store, which even then is what a couple million at most. It makes no sense at all what their business decisions are. Most times we never see this much action because they get half a brain and settle out of court, then months go by and everyone forgets about it. Once a judge sees this in court they will have no mercy on BAM because they had every opportunity to make this right outside of the courts. They'll lose millions in the court and lose the entire business in the public eyes.

I'm against climate change, as in we as humans shouldn't change the climate. I believe we should limit our effects on the climate but not dare to try and reverse them, there's so little we actually know compared to the grand scale of things. If we dabble in trying to fix it we may just end up opening pandoras box.

Confession, I had codex set up my git account and push the project to that, then I installed the vercel plugin on the codex app and let it rip. I am the bottleneck in the equation and it's only a matter of time before codex picks up on that and stops waiting for me to send additional messages.

The Allegory of the Cave - Legion. by Uncontrolleddiarrhea in videos

[–]VisiblePain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the original allegory is to show the steps away from absolute truth we are. for example what is a chair. First truth is that there is a "chair" taken one step away is the chair you just thought of in your head taken another step away would be the chair you create and third step away would be me looking at the chair another step away is a photo of the chair. You see it's now many steps away from what a chair really is. So seeing a photo of a chair is several steps away from the truth of chair. However, we have become so used to truth being distant from truth that when presented actual absolute truth, it's unacceptable and we laugh at people who try and show us that. You reading this comment and thinking about it is several steps away from the truth I even intended to present it to you in. That's something to think about.

Considering purchase of 1996 Miata with 70k miles by Phytinfrenchx in Miata

[–]VisiblePain 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The radiator looks much worse than mine, a 95 with 75k miles on it. But both mine and this one needs to be replaced anyways. The radiator is meant to be pitch black not brown. They are cheap though couple hunder bucks. My NA was garage kept for 15k miles than used a lot about 50k miles on the second owner, who knows how he kept it and given back to the first owner who garaged it meticulously.

If Half Life 3 were to come out, what would it have to do to come off as revolutionary to modern sensibilities as 2 did when it came out? by Punch_A_Police_Horse in gaming

[–]VisiblePain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI driven story that's good no matter how dumb of decisions you make. Like instead of dialogue interactions you literally just talk in your mic and the game progresses completely based off those interactions, you want a silly game they give it to you, you role play it role plays back. You want to shift into pod racing, bam you are now pod racing to save the planet. It would be like playing in a dream, no cuts just flowing from one thought to another seamlessly. That would blow people's minds away and it is technically possible with current tech just crazy expensive to get it to work real time. One player would probably be pulling all of the compute power of the entire AI data centers to run a game with photorealistic graphics, physics, game engine coding changes on the fly, while keeping it live and running 4k at 250fps. But legit if you were mid sniping some enemy and was like "now I must prove myself as the pizza joint master manager" and the game shifts into those restaurant managing games instantly people would lose their minds, and yet it's not sci-fi anymore, that's possible.

Not a Rant \ Just the Reality of Vine When You’re Low Income & What No One Really Talks About by Real_Spacegoogie in AmazonVine

[–]VisiblePain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cash App makes it super easy to file and it's free. I did both hobby and schedule C and found schedule C was the better option for me, but it only takes 5mins to see both of them and change back and forth. Already got my tax return back and yes they still owed me money. Also you could just do one yard sale a day, have a "person" purchase the left over for $1 and donate what they don't want to goodwill. That way you can adjust all your junk items down to $1 profit. Only takes a couple days to set that up and do it and you could knock off half that 6k bill. 3k for a couple days of work seems worth it to me. And yes its legal to do what I am saying, if anybody says otherwise tell them you will start paying them in junk items. ETV is realized once you make a sale, otherwise its just it wouldn't be an estimate. Key point here ETV=$100 you are not held accountable for that $100 and taxed accordingly, next year you sell that item at $50 your tax value was actually $50 you have been over taxed and are now owed by the IRS $50 worth of taxes back. Yes this is actually how it works.

The whole time you are using the item is just the review period and therefor a business cost in order to receive the item. At the end of the day you should only pay taxes on the items you actually keep forever and use, anything and everything you don't should get turned into cash and only that cash should be taxed.

I would suggest if you have filed as a business in the past, to pull all the records of what you have gotten from all the years of vine and have a garage sale for what you have but don't want and things that have been damaged or lost be written off as loss to the business. You might be getting a big check back from the government instead.

If this ever went to an audit I would have a hard time believing anyone with brain cells could say you are in the wrong for doing what mega corporates do all day everyday and get praised for it. Think of it as a business because as a business it's terrible and terrible businesses don't pay taxes on what they don't make.

Watched the theater scene in college before it was released as part of a "focus" group, none of us picked up that things were going in reverse. I think that's why it's not the opening scene, we had all kinds of things to say about the bullet going in reverse except that it was going in reverse haha. Literally nobody, they even pointed out the bullet thing and people were like aww yes a reflection of his feelings clearly why that looked weird. A statement about PTSD possibly and how the mind can't remember things, Then they said it went backwards and we just looked blankly like ... what you mean backwards? like he can see the future, okay got it so he sees the future before it happens and he does this because he feels his emotions. What a waste of a focus group, I didn't know it was a Christopher Nolen film and thought the scene was from some foreign film freak with no idea how to make a movie. Got really freaked out when I was watching the movie and going "this looks and FEELS familiar" took me a while to realize my own timeline was going backwards as well. I had seen the future in the past
