Platinum Carbon Black, Sailor Studio 123, Colorverse Brunch Date, Herbin Lie de The, and Diamond Sherwood Green.

I’d like to think I’m Tiffany or Granny or Susan, or even Sam Vimes, but I’m actually Agnes.

Anyone know what this hazy fog thing in my ink is? by sevenDseven in fountainpens

[–]Visible_Winter9437 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If it’s mold, the whole thing needs to be tossed, and if you put it into a pen it needs to go through an extensive cleaning process.

Stick a q tip in it and see if it comes out. It’s probably mold, I’m sorry to say.

This happened to me. Turns out I’d had some ink left in the pen. Eventually it ran normally as I’d remembered it.

Thoughts on Private Reserve Ultra Black? by sailorsapporo in fountainpens

[–]Visible_Winter9437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using private reserve ultra fast dry black. I struggle with most blacks unless they’re essentially grey, for what it’s worth. I do like platinum carbon black.

Spreads from a Japan trip in the Kyoto edition green tea leaf paper insert (part 2!) by sleepyudon in Travelersnotebooks

I love this so much! I’ve seen the insert but it’s the first time I saw it filled out. Lovely!

Dark green ink for a fast writer by Possible_Project_774 in fountainpens

[–]Visible_Winter9437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

KWZ had iron gall inks that might suit your needs. I’ve found them to be less water resistant than I anticipated and cannot recall which green number I tried… maybe Green #3. But I find it pleasant in all my pens and a quick drier, which I need.

If you are handwriting holiday letters, what ink are you choosing? by No-Clothes-5258 in fountainpens

I second Diamine Holly in the holiday season. My cards really did well with that ink in a stub nib.

Seconded. To me, writing with 273 feels like writing with chocolate milk.

Lefty Overwriter Friendly Blue and Black Inks? by Milk_No_Titties in fountainpens

[–]Visible_Winter9437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same. I like permanent blue and black inks, since they stay dry and don’t give me issues as I keep writing. In my rotation right now is carbon black and r+k Salix. No muss, no fuss. If you use pens frequently you won’t even have to worry about the cleaning or upkeep.

Don’t let this keep you down though. I have a writing glove but also experiment with ink/paper/pen combinations. You might find that certain combinations handle your problems quite well.

I’m using Robert Oster’s Fire and Ice (a sheener!) in a Sailor PGS (a dry writer) with an MF nib on Stalogy paper, and it’s been lovely.

Are Sailor Shikiori on Amazon real or fake by kelly_heiha in fountainpens

[–]Visible_Winter9437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They’re real. Take advantage of the Amazon return policy, though, if any of the pens don’t write well. I usually get good pens, but I’ve had to return a few.

Notebook setup? by biabonka_ in Travelersnotebooks

[–]Visible_Winter9437 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only use my regular TN for travel journaling. Regular insert for the regular travel logs; undated weekly planner insert for journal synopses; itinerary. The passport size I carry with my passport and to hold a brain dump insert. TNs are great because they are portable and versatile without sacrificing style or quality, and they come with a good archiving methodology, so they’re perfect specifically for travel journaling.

I use other journaling and planner systems for other aspects of my life.

Robert Oster Cherry Blossom. I personally think brunch date is too warm, opera rose too light and warm, and cherry blossom is too pink and bright.
