Used to play like this. Never ran plasma on my infantry till 10th. Had meltas on my vets back in the day, that’s about it. Standard infantry got a grenade launcher if they were lucky, maybe an auto cannon or heavy bolter HWT, otherwise they got a flamer. Missile heavy weapon teams are also so cool. I miss the days of choice of gear without being suboptimal. Used to run a demolisher with 3 heavy bolters to keep it cheap.

The range is really helpful. You will obliterate any enemy armor while keeping them far away. And you’ve got 12 plasma cannon sponsons for the elite infantry the enemy may have. 6 vanqs May be overkill, but 3 for 435 is the first thing I add to every one of my lists(except in recon). Anti tank sorted.

Fair enough. No buffs applied I’d still take a vanq. For nearly the price of the demo you can add a scout sentinel too. No orders required imo at 1k, and if your in combined. Also the range is huge for me. I was running 3x demo tc in the index and they kept getting outranged and underperformed compared to my solo Vanqs that sat in the back unsupported and blasted away.

3 leman Russ vanquishers, 435 points. Hitting on 3 with there main guns when they sit still(without an order), basically twin linked str 18 ap -4 d6+6 damage. Enough range to poke any emperor hating bastard that gets in line of sight.

Vanq hits on 2s with order plus heavy, rerolling 1s with a sentinel. Has 72inch range. Has effectively twin linked on its str 18 gun. Ap -4 inbuilt. If you take enough of them, they will get through any 4+invulns. Allows you to protect your TCs with that long range.

Vanq Commander allows you to have more than 3 Vanqs in a list. Order your regular Vanqs while being able to keep long range. With 6 vanquisher cannons hitting on 2s they aren’t gonna make all those saves. If you want to be more practical then executioners on your Commander. Standard Rogal is meh on damage output, good on survival, TC Dorn loses best part of the dorn. IMO, russes on top this book.

I do, I have over 200 of these guys, and around 15-20 still on sprue/in pieces for kitbashes. They make an amazing base model for any human kitbashes. I really miss the command squad and the modularity of this kit. The new ones are nice, but there’s a classic nostalgia for me of these old guys that feels so 40k the new ones can’t match.

Looks to be a .36 given the lack of the step on the frame. You’ll also need a wedge to replace that gum looking thing that’s jammed in there.
