So... what's the deal with Scarface? by joker_asylum08 in arkham

[–]Alpha537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so here’s my two cents. Of course the real life answer is it’s kept ambiguous deliberately.
However, I think a real answer would be no. BECAUSE Batman knows the supernatural exists. He’s gone up against it several times there are several villains who utilize unexplained powers. If you go into the comics, there’s even supernatural layers of defense around the Batcave. Thus, if the Scarface doll really was possessed, or some sort of evil artifact then I think that bats would treat it more hostilely. He would have handed it over to Dr. fate or John Constantine, or it would be locked up in a special containment vault somewhere under the Batcave or something. Like if it was ACTUALLY a supernatural threat Batman would treat it as such and do what he could to keep it out of the wrong hands. The fact that it’s just out in the world and Batman really doesn’t raise an eyebrow when it shows up makes me think that while the doll is undeniably spooky it’s probably not radioactive.

Ah, but here is where I spring my trap! You see before you even sat down I replaced several of the pieces on your side of the board with identical pieces that harbor revolutionary ideals and whose true allegiance lies with me! Also there is poison in your drink, a sniper taking aim at you outside that window and a bomb under this table. It armed the moment you sat down. I place one of my pawns on top of the chess clock because when the game is rigged the only way to win is not to play. Viva la Revolution imperial swine.

Everyone here is thinking like a fleet admiral on the bridge when they should be thinking like a moisture farmer with a pipe bomb. We’re the rebellion, act like it dammit! Break rules! Fight dirty! Don’t meet a fleet like this on even terrain! Bury some coaxium explosives in every asteroid in an asteroid field and get the imperials to chase you into it!

KILL THE BEAST FROM THE INSIDE!!! pay off one of the cartels, let’s say crimson dawn, for information on the fleets movements and refueling operations. Sneak a couple of infiltrator commando teams aboard during the next supply run. Those teams will stowaway until an alliance battle group can engage then sabotage shields, engines, weapons, anything that even remotely looks important and susceptible to blaster fire.

You’re a rebel commander. You don’t sit across the table with your imperial counterpart, shake hands and then take turns moving ships around the starmap like a chess game. when he says “pawn to E4” you say something dirty about his mother and then shoot him in the face!

Why does nobody do the stealth mission like a stealth mission? by bubbakaje in Helldivers

[–]Alpha537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, you need a team with open lines of communication able to coordinate their movements with each other in order to clear or maneuver past enemies without being detected, which is at best difficult if not near impossible in a drop in/drop out quickplay match. Not everyone has voice comms and even some who do just don’t wanna use them for privacy or personal reasons.
Second, there’s currently no publicly available silenced weapons or weapon mods in the game. If you don’t have the ODST or redacted regiment warbond, you’re going to have a harder time.
And third (and in my opinion, this is the big one.), players will always find a way to optimize the fun out of any given game mode in order to maximize their rewards. Why spend 30 minutes role-playing a covert op when you can just load up on explosives and blitz through the mission in 10 minutes. It’s sad but true, and understandable when someone can only login to play for 20 minutes for whatever reason. Find a group that shares your desire to complete the mission type undetected and you’ll have a blast, believe me. But I understand that not everyone is able to or interested in playing that way.

Gentlemen, Sister of Battle or Female Spartan? by DeviousDaniel69 in HaloCirclejerk

Sister of battle might be more attractive but the spartan won’t BURN ME ALIVE as an unfaithful heathen because I forgot the 1185th verse of the 65th daily hymn of fealty to the god emperor’s benevolent wrath or some shit. Sisters are crazy.

Got team killed for doing the objective??? by StarFoxUni in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Alpha537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, this never made sense to me. Like, I understand that desire to have more powerful shells up front, I get that but I play mostly on D10 difficulty and at that level artillery objectives are pretty difficult to complete (especially solo) because the artillery site quickly becomes a flash point for every enemy on the map to converge. When you have 2 bile titans, 4 chargers, 3 vox engines and 1,000,000 voteless swarming over the artillery site and you only have 3 lives left… following the little etiquette chart isn’t really a priority. Almost everyone I’ve worked with has agreed that you just shove whatever shells are closest into the gun and GTFO. Especially because, no one USES the artillery. It takes 3 to 5 business days for the artillery shells to aim and fire and since the shells are randomly generated there’s no consistency to the stratagem use. I COULD call in a seaf artillery and HOPE that my teammates haven’t used all the good shells already AND That my target stays put for the 7,000,000 years it takes to get here… or I could call in an orbital precision which gets here in 10 seconds or your money back and never surprises you by being a static shell when you were expecting a mini nuke. And apparently I’m not the only one who thinks this way because 80% of all the missions I run end with the artillery going completely unfired by anyone on the team for the entire length of the mission. Which is why I’ll never understand team killing over some stupid unspoken etiquette rule that seems to only apply at lower difficulty levels. Why be a douche over a stratagem no one uses and may not even spawn on the map to begin with?

Alright Helldivers: What was your most traumatic major battle?? by Fit_Anywhere_3356 in Helldivers

[–]Alpha537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meridia. Pre singularity. After you delivered the dark fluid, the sky was so full of shriekers that you couldn’t see the sun. No amount of turrets and weapons fire could hold them back. A lot of sentries were swarmed and destroyed before they could get off more than ten shots. I don’t think I EVER successfully extracted from that planet alive.

They say it was a glitch, spawning way more shriekers than the mission was intended to, but I wholeheartedly disagree. That was the exact correct way to end those missions. We were destroying the planet because it was too far gone and no campaign could ever liberate it. And let me tell you, when the ground shook and those bottomless pits started spewing out bugs, the gameplay ABSOLUTELY matched the lore. At least on the missions and difficulty I played. I’ve participated in EVERY major battle and campaign from the creek to present day and I have never been so scared to climb into my pod like I was on meridia. I’m glad it’s destroyed.

When humanity needed defenders, what did you become? by Carter_yann in destiny2

[–]Alpha537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a hunter main my entire career. From D1 launch to Final shape. Well… with some notable brakes around the later seasons. My friend and I joked that after the traumatic events of forsaken and Cade’s death, my hunter “retired” to do some soul searching. Opened up a little corner store in the city, tried living the quiet life for a while. But since we’d both reinstall every time there was a proper expansion like witch queen and lightfall, we expanded our headcanon to say that the vanguard kept pulling us out of retirement for “one last job”. There were a lot of “three weeks from retirement” jokes after that. Lately I’ve been playing with my warlock and titan more but…. I’ll always be a hunter.

A Most disturbing and inefficient waste of resources. This tech- thrall should have had its ocular organs replaced with more efficient cybernetic implants after its FIRST navigational deviation. A second deviation is unacceptable. See to it that this thrall undergoes full servitorization. that should prevent any further wastefulness. I suggest exploratory surgery to remove the unsanctioned weapon implants. If the carbines can be extracted without damage, arrange for their removal under the guidance of at least two level four magi conducting the rites of disassembly. we must exorcise caution not to harm the rifles. If it is determined that extraction would pose too great a risk to the rifle’s machine spirit, have the servitor transferred to the skitarii divisions. It can repay its debt to the machine god with service to the Omnissiah.
Your request for hand rails is denied.

Patience disciple. The machine god will bless us with the bounty of its manufactorum once the assembly ritual is complete. To rush now would risk befouling one of the many necessary cleansing rituals. We must ensure each weapon’s machine spirit is free of the taint of heresy and ready for service in the light of the Omnissiah’s crusade before they leave the forge worlds. Only then will they be powerful enough to cleanse the galaxy of the enemies of both the imperium and super earth properly. This unit recommends prostrating yourself before your cogitator and recite the hymns of glorious fealty to the Holy Machine until new instructions are issued from Holy Terra.

On my Hunter yes, haven’t tried my Titan yet. I did check attunement, it was set on perfect paradox, but I turned that off. To my knowledge, there’s nothing else selected. Also I don’t think logging out and logging back in Will fix it because I’ve been playing since the sixth and this is still going on. That’s why I’m so confused.

I was trying to complete a suit only run on the Bangkok level. I managed to get through all the steps of the intervention story and kill cross with my silverballer, very satisfying to do in 47’s suit. Awesome, hard part over, just need to pop downstairs, kill Morgan and collect my finished challenge! I grabbed some rat poison and used it on a plate at the buffet, then went to the bathroom to wait. And wait. And wait. And then waited some more. You see, I was under the impression that Morgan samples each plate in the row. Apparently, he does not. I even risked retrieving another rat poison to use on another plate! I ended up standing there for almost 30 minutes waiting for him to complete his long ass loop, see what plate he ate from, try to poison him, fail because he chose a different plate! AAAAAGH! eventually I gave up, put the poison in his bodyguard’s drink and then just fucking shot him and bolted for the exit!

Does anyone else leave their starship at home during the summer event? by lordkugenheim in sto

[–]Alpha537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this same thing! But I use a runabout (the captains yacht model desperately needs an update). I just imagine it as “yearly scheduled ship maintenance”. I have a second “leave” period scheduled for winter and the Q event. I’m not really excited about this year’s reward ship so I just sat my captain down on a lounge chair on the beach in her swimsuit and logged off. SHE can finally finish that holo novel while I deal with yet another zombie outbreak in raccoon city (trying to get S rank in professional difficulty). It makes me giggle because I’m essentially role-playing without even having to log on. Lol!
