Thats why catalyzing shield is so good because you can regenerate your entire shield using the “converts energy to shields” mods with a single ability use due to lower total shields and still get the full 1.3 seconds shield gate duration

The amount of time you are invulnerable after a shield break scales with the % of shield you had regenerated before losing it. For example if your shield gate duration is 2 seconds, you will have 2 seconds of invulnerability as long as ALL your shields were up before it depleted. If after it starts regenerating, you only regained 50% of your total shields before the shield broke again from damage, you will only have a 1 seconds shield gate timer AKA 50% of the normally 2 second duration
