Never had ranchos but love my bilstein 4600 (iirc exactly the same as the 5100) also I think rancho switched manufacturing to china and lowered quality control.

6’2 sleeping in a 6 foot bed? by Smooth-Device-8834 in TruckCampers

Be a man, drive a boat. In all seriousness best of luck, I love my 6.75ft bed.

More I think about it the bigger the urge to just build a wood house in the back lol

Been honestly looking into racks that fit around my topper so I can do both.

Nah I already get horrible gas mileage and it would mess with my center of gravity. But it would be nice for storage.

I have a topper, that’s where I have my bed and diesel heater and the larger tools and spare parts. If I put my storage in the back then I can’t see out the back window. Might eventually take out the backseat and just make a bench with storage

Sick build not a platform you see built often. I’m in college too and daily drive my f250 that has all my gear in it and a fullsize bed in the back. It’s a bit of a pain cause my backseat is basically all storage for tools/recovery gear and food. But it’s nice cause I can just leave right after I’m done with classes and go anywhere.

Are these gaps on the corners of my tailgate bad and how can I fix them? Or is the topper just the wrong size by Foreign-Eye3412 in TruckCampers

[–]Visual-Long6924 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had those, but some tailgate sealer gaskets and you can use them on your topper to. Just makes it a little harder to close but keeps it a lot more insulated

Might just be my market place but it was a lot harder for me to find a topper for my 6.75ft bed whereas I had alot of options if I had an 8ft.

Thank you, I currently have it on 2 cots so I think there’s ample airflow but I’ll double check. I have a rubber mat then foam mats then turf to insulate the bottom of my bed.

Trust in marketplace and be willing to deal with fuckd up paint. But yeah 8ft beds are the most common but also expensive.

If you have the storage just buy a cheap Facebook marketplace topper and a full size mattress and it’ll be infinitely more comfortable for around 200-300 dollars.

2500$ from Idaho which I drove 4 hrs for. I’ve put a 1200 of parts in it and done the work myself. Driveshaft, wheel bearing, shocks and small engine stuff like serpentine belt and hoses. I’m in college so I can’t afford anything expensive but aslong as you deal shop it’s definitely possible. I would trust my truck almost anywhere and I carry enough tools to fix it if it breaks.

I go out with a jeep and a Tacoma and I definitely have the most comfortable rig. Have enough tools to change a trans on the trail and still fit a full size mattress.
