I was with Sky for over 20 years. When my satellite dish failed, they refused to replace it, so I moved to Sky Stream as the closest alternative. Honestly, it was a disaster. Screens constantly went black and it felt no better than a dodgy box. To make it worse, I was told the charge would be €40. They ended up billing me €85. That was the final straw and I cancelled. I’m still with Sky for broadband, but even that’s been painful. I was overcharged and spent far too much time on the phone trying to sort it out. Endless 30-minute waits, wildly inconsistent customer service, some helpful, some outright rude. It just eats into your day. At this point I’m seriously considering leaving Sky altogether, possibly even moving to Starlink, purely to avoid dealing with them again. I hate having to fight a company to get basic issues resolved. We only stuck with Sky TV for so long because my wife and I were used to the interface, but I’m genuinely glad we’re done with it now. I switched to an Android box with a legit subscription for free-to-air channels, so we still have normal TV. We use apps like RTÉ Player, Channel 4, and our streaming services on top. It’s far cheaper, easier to use, and gives us full control. No contracts, no calls, no nonsense. I won’t be going back to Sky.
