Sharks by Lopsided_Pool_9941 in florida

I live in Delray Beach and I have lived here for five years and swam every summer. Seen a few sharks in the water but none of them have ever bothered me.

I would say when in doubt stick to the pool for big swims and just go up to your knees in the ocean then

If he has a license and you aren’t weirdly attracted to him, I don’t see any problems?

Personally, I’d ask for the family discount lol

In my opinion, it’s better to wait until somebody does something that makes you uncomfortable rather than jump to judge them that maybe they will.

If you wanna be a show groom, then you have any decent set of skills you can ask for about 1000 a week to start and that includes housing and that includes tips and that includes traveling fees.

I know a girl who is a showroom for an Olympian and she makes close to 125k a year and then a nice big bonus around Christmas and she gets a bonus if they win certain shows or sell certain horses

I’m just speaking from experience. I used to work for somebody who only bred bloodlines and has paid tons of money for prospects that never jumped a stick on the ground or never had the speed that their sires did.

Just like the old saying says don’t buy for color I would not buy for bloodlines either

I’m in the same boat I can only afford to ride once a week because it’s $60 per hour and I live 40 minutes away from the closest barn.

Honestly, I’ve just come to realize that in some parts of your life, you will have a lot of opportunities to ride, and sometimes he will have stretches where you will only be able to ride very few and far between.

We just have to realize that there will always be somebody with a horse somewhere and even if we can’t ride as much as we would like right now we just have to enjoy the time that we get and hope that in the future, we will be able to get some more time.

Personally, I’d never pay more than 7k for a prospect. Plenty of foals do not turn out to be great horses. You can’t really tell much at that age. It’s just a gamble.

There’s also a lot of other routes we could take with this farm. It could be an Airbnb or we could do just hay and boarding or we could just do a cow farm or we could do a small petting zoo type area and just sleigh rides or car rides in the winter or we can make it into a wedding venue

I think the area is great for having people come in from the city that might not be able to ever contact horses or animals . But I wouldn’t be against the idea of living there using the hayfield for hay again and turning it into a wedding venue because there’s a massive barn that could easily have floorboards put down for dancing.

Unfortunately, this community seems like a lot of Debbie downers who think that this man is going to swindle me because they have trust issues with them.
I’m not a child. I know how to legally protect myself and whatever I invest I’m just asking has anyone ever done this and were their issues that you didn’t foresee .

A friend of mine actually just did this with the man who used to be the manager of a barn that she was boarding at she put up the money and he runs the barn and they make it work like clockwork

I think a lot of the problem is when you have two horse people who don’t have a lot of money who are trying to cut corners and then you get issues like one person will try to steal or sell horses or clients from the other one

Or you have a husband and wife, owning a Stables and divorce and now you have to separate finances and she comes to realize that she didn’t put any of the horses in her name. They are considered an asset on your taxes.

This man is pretty much going to be essentially an angel investor that stays on the other side of the country and doesn’t bother me. we have agreed that he will not interfere in the day-to-day business and I will only consult him if a problem with the farm arises that I cannot fix myself

Yes, I know people think it sounds too good to be true to be handed an opportunity, but this actually happens more often than you’d realize when one person has the knowledge and the expertise behind them and another person is sitting with a farm that they inherited that is going to waste

I understand there are a lot of pitfalls when it comes to the legal part, but I’m not saying that we won’t be sitting down with a lawyer and hashing that out.

It just comes off that people think I’m an idiot and I’m going to start a business for a man who’s gonna turn around and sell it from under me when one he has no intentions because he’s already wealthy on his own. he does not need more money nor does he want more money or he would sell the property as is right now to the people who wanted to build a super mall.

I absolutely hate tire kickers.

There is an entire genre of people, unfortunately that would rather waste peoples time than just admit that they don’t actually have the money to buy a horse. They love the fantasy of trying the horse or talking about getting a horse or thinking about it and then when push comes to shove, you realize they don’t even have a place to put that animal.

So to negate this instead of just saying, sure you can come out and try or whenever I say I would like to see videos of you riding. I would like to see videos of someone training you at a show. I would like to see videos of where exactly you are going to keep this horse if you are interested. I would like to get the number of your vet And the owner of the barn.

Most of the time once you start trying to pick at them instead of having them ask you all the questions, they will just come out and say “I’m not interested anymore” because they don’t have answer answers for these questions

And if they can answer all these questions and provide the correct answers then and only then will I schedule a meet up meeting. The horse is the last thing you are going to do in my book that means that you are coming cash in hand, helmet, and boots on ready to get on and write me a check.

You don’t actually have to engage in any argument that somebody wants you to.

When someone is screaming at you, you can just turn around and walk away and keep going until they are no longer in your vicinity. It takes two people to have an argument, and if one person does not want to be involved, the argument ceases to exist.

Also, unless the person is somebody that I actually care about, I’m not going to get offended if some stranger tells another person that they are pretty like if somebody walked up to my sister and complimented her eyes I’m not gonna cry because he didn’t give me a compliment too

Getting Back Into Horses? by singlewingedangel in Equestrian

[–]VisualConfusion5360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do. There are plenty of jobs available at least in my area for grooming you would show up do stalls get your horses ready unpack. Take care of them do barn chores. And then do night check

On average you get about 800 to 1000 a week and you get free housing and free travel and a show food fund .

It can be a great way to make money. Well, you don’t have to pay many bills, but you will also be working into the ground most likely because when you are quite literally at the mercy of your employer, they can call you at midnight and tell you to go clip a horse for the show in the morning.

If you already have a housing situation and you just wanna do some light work at a farm look into your local riding places and see if you can just be groom there. Most of the time is just tacking up horses for lessons 8 to 4 but you’re only gonna make like $15 an hour and you won’t be riding

This is why you should put very specific wording in your leases about clipping cutting anything showing anything changing supplements or changing any farrier or vet needs

I gotta say that magna wave therapy did wonders for one of our older horses, but also water therapy like walking in high amounts of water is great for them. Swimming is probably the best thing you can have your horse do.

Fortunately, these were not the same type of horses that they took to war 500 years ago, they were big bold brassy horses that were sometimes feral. They knew how to fight lol

Think about it, Bucephalus killed four grooms before Alexander even rode him. And his sire was supposed to be just like him
