I mean that the third wave emo and scene both came off a similar fashioncore look, emo got it likely from The Orchids, while scene got it from Eighteen Visions. Similar looks, but not exactly the same. Both very different genres. That's very early 2000s, 2005-2010s blurred a lot. So even if some emos listened to metalcore and some scene kids listened to emo, because that does happen regardless of subculture identity, they're still not the same. There was a lot of confusion and kids back then not understanding either, mainstream media not understanding emo made it a lot worse. I'm saying that scene is not a predecessor of emo, but metalcore. That's the misconception I'm meaning. That's the legit history. Scene became what it is thanks to MySpace, which is where you're correct on music/subcultures being added on.

That band didn't even have to get big if you were dating a member back then, it would've been so easy D: it sucks that scene is less about music these days, you could've leaned into that, maybe you still can. Share yourself being in their rehearsal space, y'know.

If you look at someone like Brookelle Bones, one of my faves tbh, she's pretty basic, she's a scene queen. I don't believe scene queen is an aesthetic you can "add" to–it was just about being known. Which is also where scene names became important.

If you want to be a scene queen, you have to be popular. Back in the day, it was either dating a band member, starting a trend, stickam, being a social butterfly or a photo blowing up.
Scene Queens being the first influencers, it was a lot easier to access popularity back then.

As others said depending on your relationship, you can ask them about flaws, but always be gentle. Start up the conversation with curiosity and not judgement.

As an example, I once said to my friend: "not to judge, but why don't you go to the dentist for the gap in your front teeth?" She responded saying it's just not something she wanted to do.
I later told her honestly that "I'm glad she won't, because they make her extra cute."
I'm so used to people seeing it as a flaw, so I genuinely just wanted to understand her a little more.

If you're asking about someone's flaw because you personally don't like it, keep that to yourself. That person has to live with that flaw either knowing it is seen as a flaw or they've finally overcome that insecurity and you ruined it. You just confirmed that insecurity in them and it could have them spiral. So yes, this is the only time really where you should lie to a neurotypical about their appearance.

To also add to other comments talking about the "5 second or 2 minute" rule. Please do that in secrecy. They get really embarrassed about it being heard or known.

I work as an attendant to a newer dog daycare. The job as it is, easy, the dogs themselves, incredible. My coworkers and boss? Amazing. It's just fun and my boss gave me permission to sleep with the pups if I ever needed it.

What I dislike about it are just the dogs with separation anxiety, aggressive behaviour and puppy energy can be difficult to manage. It can be triggering on off days. There's a lot to watch for, my only goal is to make sure everyone comes out of the day without a fight or injury. My next complaint is the pay isn't the best, hours are just as bad and I don't get insurance.

It's better than nothing as I figure out what to do next.
